"I personally would NOT recommend anyone that I know to look for housing with these realtors. I had a bad experience working with their realtor, Amy. Not only did she not show up to our scheduled showing in Southie, she first said that she thought that I had canceled even though I had been trying to confirm with her all morning that day with no reply, then she lied about being sick as an excuse. After having the most low effort showing by another realtor from this company, when my roommate and I decided to apply for an apartment – we were told that it was no longer available, but that an apartment in the same building (outside of our communicated budget) was available. After declining this offer from Amy, she proceeded to attempt to pressure us into signing, even though we repeatedly told her that we were not interested. She continued to try and contact us during the work day and in the middle of the night after we had told her no several times. In response to us rejecting the higher apartment price, she said “Well why don’t you ask your parents for more money?” A wildly inappropriate assumption for working adult professionals who work hard to pay for their own rent. After we politely declined once again, she then used fear tactics such as telling us that we would not be able to find anything in a lower price range, that apartments wouldn’t take out of state cosigners, and that apartments won’t accept pets. These realtors take advantage of the stress and anxiety that looking for housing in Boston causes. They put little to know effort into working with renters because they know that they will make a sale anyway. They are rude, pushy, and they lie to make you feel pressured to sign a lease. Do not work with these people, they are unprofessional and don’t treat renters looking for homes with the kindness and respect that they deserve. We were fortunately able to find something $500 less than what they were showing us, that allowed pets, and didn’t have a brokers fee. Don’t fall for the scams that these types of realtors run on first time or young professional renters in the Boston area - if you are patient, you will be able to find something that works better for you!"
"I do not recommend South End Realty Group after having had a very poor experience with them. After deciding to go for an apartment, I filled out the application and paid the deposit. My application was approved, and I was told that the apartment is mine, and is now off the market. I subsequently paid first, last and broker fee, and a lease was generated for me to sign via Docusign. I had a number of questions about the lease, and I objected to the fact that they wanted me to sign - three months before moving in - the "Apartment condition form" stating that the apartment is in great condition and all appliances work correctly (even though the top of that form clearly states that one has 15 days after moving in to return the form). There were other covenants they added to the standard lease which I couldn't honestly sign (they obliged me to have read and understood certain documents about condominium rules which they didn't send me) so I requested changes to the Docusign document they wanted me to sign. At this point, I was suddenly told by the agent (Mary Baghough) that "Management have gone with another client", that it's "first come first served", and, to add insult to injury, "Thank you for your interest". Thank you for your interest?!? I was "first come", they had agreed to rent it to me and take it off the market, so why then should there even be other "clients"? They reneged on their promise that it'd be mine. This is totally dishonest behavior, not just in business dealings. If we're negotiating terms of a lease - an important legal document on which both parties should be happy signing - it's just not on to be two-timing the client behind the scenes. I did get all of my money back. But the wasted time, and more importantly the opportunity cost incurred (there were many other good apartments I saw which obviously, during this time, were gone) gave me great problems, since I traveled to Boston from London specifically to look for accommodation. In conclusion, I will never have anything to do with this vile and dishonest group of people ever again, and would strongly caution others from doing so."
"My experience with Talisa was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond to ensure that the process of renting our new apartment was as seamless as possible. She was incredibly understanding, attentive, responsive, and helpful, never hesitating to do all she could to make this process as smooth as possible. Coming from a past living situation with a negligent broker/management company, working with Talisa and South End Realty has truly been a breath of fresh air. I could not thank Talisa enough and I would recommend her to EVERYONE!"
"Talisa was amazing! She was extremely responsive to all of our crazy questions, and was a lot of fun to speak with. This process isn't generally an easy one, but working with her made all the difference. She worked with us on every aspect of getting into the rental property we were looking at. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. And in a couple years when we are ready to buy a home, Talisa will be our first call. Thanks Talisa, and thanks South End Realty Group!"
"Jacob at SERG was great. He made last minute accomedations on viewing time for the apartment we inquired about. He was knowledgeable about the area and the current market during this pandemic. He was responsive, diligent, and professional. He isn’t trying to just sell you an apartment, he wants to make sure all the boxes are checked on what you’re looking for. Although we decided that moving during this time wasn’t in our best interest, I would surely contact him again if we are looking to move. Thanks Jacob!"
