"my partner and I came in on orders from their doctor at 7:30 pm. they did the initial intake and then we were ignored for 4 hours. we asked the woman at the front if there was any update and we were yelled at and told the ER was extremely busy and there were people ahead of us. another 3 hours goes by and finally our names were called but it was so they could retake vitals since we were there for so long. after 9 hours of waiting we both went up to ask for any kind of estimate as we were worried about trying another ER and starting all over again and everyone in the ER at this point had come in at least 5 hours after us. we went up and a security officer And he asked what we needed and we told him the situation and he laughed and said you gotta talk to the nurses who both were looking at me and immediately went back to their phones. we ended up leaving at 4:45 am to try to get a few hours of sleep at home before going to a different ER this morning. I can understand even a 5 hour wait at an ER under the right circumstances but this felt like they weren't taking my partners illness seriously and putting them through hell for no reason at all. at one point a nurse came up and asked who we were because no one had communicated with each other. I get this countries healthcare system is trash but be empathetic, you work in a hospital."
"I cannot explain how disappointed I am with this Emergency Room, especially for a hospital that is supposed to be one of the best in the country. For context, I went to the ER upon a referral from Urgent care requesting that I be seen โSTATโ due to a VERY concerning set of symptoms. My visit started off when the nurse at the front desk in the waiting room was extremely rude to me, as if I was not already having a hard time. After waiting two hours to be seen, I was invalidated and laughed at by a PA (Jaden). After having bloodwork done, I was sent to sit in a waiting room chair (bag hung to a command hook and crammed directly next to other sick folks without masks) and not acknowledged for 2+ hours as my condition deteriorated. (Not to mention, they talk about private medical info for all to hear in this section of the ED as well). Finally when my friend spoke to nurses about my condition, they came over to check my vitals (and forgot about my bloodwork in the process - my friend had to beg for them to follow up on my labs). When they came over, it was clear they had not read my chart and did not know what I was in for (these poor nurses are clearly overworked, which is a whole other issue). Long story short, I was once again invalidated by the PA and spoken to like a child by him, and sent home with my concerning symptoms. The only saving grace were the kind, but clearly overworked, nurses I interacted with. Iโm convinced that the only way to get anything done in this establishment is to yell, scream, and cause a scene, which is upsetting for all parties involved. Overall, Iโm sad to say that this is not a place to heal and I would never return to the MGH ED by choice."
"Talk about HIPAA violation! I had been going to MGh for 12 years and for the past 7 years just kept getting worse and worse. Aside from the horrible treatment from nurses, what completely shocks me.each and every visit it the violention of privacy. Nurses discuss patients information, making mock of them in elevators, corridor and their station and don't care if othet patients hear them. Doctors will loudly ask patients to confirm their identity , then processed loudly to discuss their health.and no, they are not deaf. They talk to me the same. Recently, I even asked this doctor politely to lower his voice as everyone in the wait rokm.was looking at us. He snarked at me loudly and walked away."
"Had an excellent visit where everyone was very professional. Came in by ambulance due to heart symptoms, had an EKG taken within 30 minutes and was then wheeled to a bed. Was talked to immediately by a PA, then a nurse put in an IV and had various tests taken. After I was diagnosed I was put in a chair to wait to be discharged, which took 1.5-2 hours and was the longest step. All together I was there for about 4 hours which I find very reasonable all things considered."
"Absolutely horrendous!! Used to be good, so I went because I've had serious issues going on with chest pain, heart palpitations, trouble breathing & I feel like ik going to faint when it happens!! They completely dismissed me, waited for 10 hrs overnight in a chair waiting for blood tests that they lost, not once, but TWICE!!! No one gave me any updates or told me what was going on! I'd have someone call my name, walk me somewhere without saying where we going, nothing. They discuss your medical information in front of everyone! It's not hard to take someone in a room quick to explain or talk to them!! I heard the nurses talking shift about their patients together. HIPPA means nothing to them! I didn't even see a doctor until I was being discharged & it was by the nurse, not a doctor!! The nurse told me they couldn't find anything wrong from my blood work, so i complained saying how I didn't feel comfortable leaving because I know something is wrong!! People know their own bodies!! So, she went & got the doctor, who I never saw or spoke to, who told me since I wasn't having a heart attack & there was no fluid around my heart, she was comfortable discharging me! I told her I wasn't comfortable leaving though because I knew something is wrong & no one was listening to me, so she literally got security to walk me out!! I was frustrated, I raised my voice a tiny bit! Not even yelling or swearing, but a homeless guy was screaming at security & they did nothing!! Worst experience I've ever had!! I'm still having them & its getting worse! I have kids. I don't need to worry about them finding me passed out or dead!!"
