As a human patient in 2023 I want to talk with a human and I want to hear that person’s voice on the answering machine not an automated extension number which leaves me concerned as to whom my personal information is going, especially when advised by the AI bot that my personal information is perhaps not going where I think, and the patient has no idea where the message is going since the system is totally digital numbers and impersonal. Talking to Laura who is very efficient at returning phone calls has been awesome for the last almost 20 years. As they say in my world, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it."
