"These folks have just raised my monthly rent by $40 without so much as a notification. I thought that sort of thing was illegal. My little 5'x10' is costing me a little over $190.00 per month now in August 2024. In August 2018, the rent for this unit was $65.60 per month. By August 2022 the monthly rent had increased to $97.92. By August 2023 the monthly rent I paid was $121.24. Now as of August 2, 2024 they now have started charging my account $190.38. On July 2, 2024 my account was charged $150.40. No notice of an August increase on rent to follow.... Wow. I know things are more expensive but wow! The customer/consumer takes it on the chin at Public Storage. It doesn't matter to them that I'm a Veteran, either. Oh, BTW. I just looked at the company's stock price. Wow! Edit 8-6-24: There has been a response from 2 different people. The first, a female, told me they will hold the rent hike for 6 months. Today a district manager called and quite frankly, I'm confused. I don't need stress over this, my health is bad enough. The company, Public Storage, had apparently sent the notice to my old address. So, even though all my other mail reaches me, that notice did not. So the company tried to notify me of the $40 a month rent increase, increasing my payment to a little over $190.00 a month (for a 10' x 5' climate controlled unit.) That was apparently supposed to start at the beginning of August. I can only hope that the first call I received from the female representative is correct. That would be very helpful to me right now...."
