"my experience with Dr. James was terrible. She apathetic, cruel and ultimately incompetent as a physician. I wouldn't recommend her to my worst enemy and she should not be practicing medicine. Go ANYWHERE else but this vain, vindictive and incompetent provider. I went and saw Doctor James in 2009 after a three day stomach flu left me severely disabled with MS like issues. First visit she spent the majority of the time messing around distractedly with the new iPhone her children bought for her. She ordered blood, came back with vitamin D deficiencies, and next visit was short (20min). The third visit she told me to stop complaining because everyone has pain (I could barely walk and had no coordination). She then proceeded to tell me I was crazy and it was in my head. Saw her for a while anyway, she did some basic tests after begging her and the continued dismissal of the severity of my issues. Eventually got a second opinion (and boy the neurologists in UT back each other's play hard) 14 years later a Doctor at the U finally did a simple test to determine I have small fiber neuropathy."
"I came here today for an appointment, walked up to the desk the receptionist did not have a mask on however she was behind glass. She asked me for my insurance card and driver’s license, I mentioned I had them on my phone but not on me I step to side to hand her my phone and she rudely said you need to stay behind the glass. so I then told her well I don’t want you handling my phone so how would you like to get this information she again very rudely said you can just email it to me. She hands me a little sticky note and says mail it this so I emailed it to the address. I set there for twenty minutes waiting and she comes up and says did you email it I said yes she then walks away. I then wait another ten minutes for another lady to come out with an attitude and says we are not seeing you until we get the email for the insurance I told her I sent it she looks at the address and says well that’s not right so I said it would have been nice for someone to verify email address instead of just giving me an attitude and making me wait even longer. Common sense would be to go check on a patient and see if maybe they are having difficulty with reading their writing or having trouble with email. Another issue she got an attitude with me because I step to side to show her my insurance card and doesn’t say anything to the next guy that comes up and takes his mask off and starts talking including her. If your going to make an issue of someone going to side of glass to show you something then say something to others who are not wearing a mask and make sure you have your mask on. I am not happy with this place at all there is no empathy here just attitude I DO NOT recommend this place at all. As always I’m sure the doctors won’t care because I’m just one person. If you do come here I hope you get treated better than I did. I can’t leave a review without at least one star if I had a choice it would be none. People come here because they hurt or are in pain not to get some jerk at the counter showing attitude."
"I've had chronic illnesses and problems since I was a teenager. I'm in my mid 30's now. I cannot even count how many doctors and hospitals I have seen throughout my life. Way, way, way more than the average person. Out of all of these doctors I have seen, Dr. James is by far my favorite doctor. By far. No one comes close. She takes her time, she pays attention, she investigates, she doesn't invalidate, she doesn't rush you/the appointment, and she genuinely shows care and concern like no other doctor I've met. For the last 3+ yrs I've had an issue with my hands that I've seen specialist after specialist after specialist for. No one could ever figure it out or take the time to investigate beyond the x amount of issues they see regularly with their patients every day. On my first visit with Dr. James, she speculated what it was. After MRIs shortly after, she confirmed what it was. She took it a step further to not only diagnose what the symptoms were but the root cause of the issue which is a far more rare disease. It might take some time to get in to see her, but I assure you, you will not find a better doctor out there. She is more than worth the wait."
"I have been a patient of Dr. James for over 20 years. She has been beneficial in helping me through so many physical and emotional struggles. She is easy to talk to and she sincerely cares. If she does not have an answer for certain ailments, she will find the answer or refer you in the right direction."
"It is wonderful to see that Dr Elena Hewitt James right where you've always been since I was in your care in 2000, when your expertise in Neurology and valued advice, not only increased the quality of my life, but also gave me a greater perceptive on making better lifestyle choices to live a happier, more satisfying life. She was the greatest then and I for one would not wan't an other specialist in her field and hope to qualify to see her once again in the very future due to the unfortunate injury that I sustained in November 2016. In which I have not had any medical attention yet and I am somewhat alarmed by the diagnose at this time; with the symptoms of having a TB I from a forceful blow to the left of my face and temporal brain. She is by e is by far my most favorite and skilled by far for many of the debilitating issues that I require education, help and a physicians help with. She is amazing an amazing Neurologist. I trust her judgement, counsel, directives far above any thing. She brought me back then, (at a time when no one thought it was even possible) It's my hope that she will take me again as her patient and can bring me back for my final run. I'm so excited just to see you. Again, thank you Dr. Elena Hewitt James, as before I think you are amazing and really the only one that can help me at this time with all I've got or don't I'm sure you'll be my miracle as you were before. can't wait to see you!! I had a lot to say huh Sincerely, Jess Jacobsen"
