"My experience with Doorway began when I noticed a room being advertised on Facebook in late April - early May for a June 1st move-in. I texted the agent, Pierreson, and we scheduled a viewing. When I arrived, we couldn't get into the building because he didn't have the access code and no one opened the door. We rescheduled for the next day, and someone else showed up instead of Pierre. Poor coordination all around. Despite this, I liked the room and decided to apply, paying the necessary fees and a $500 good faith deposit. For about two weeks, I was trying to find out when the lease signing would take place, but the agent never gave me a specific answer. A WEEK (!) before the move-in date, I contacted the agent, and he informed me that I would not be moving in because the landlord changed their mind!! He apologized, but the situation was ridiculous and left me almost homeless. Thankfully, my old landlord allowed me to stay in my previous apartment for another month. I continued to see my room (the one I paid good faith deposit for and was refunded) being advertised by other agents in the company on various Facebook groups, which was so confusing. I found another room with a different agent, Kine. Everything went relatively well until I paid a significant amount of money (first month's rent, security, and application fees) and signed the lease. However, they refused to let me into the building or give me the keys without a "quick Zoom call" with the landlord to "make sure everyone is on the same page," requiring all four roommates to be present. Fabron, who was supposed to coordinate the call, was rude and unprofessional. There was no reason for all the roommates to be present on this call with the "landlord." During the Zoom call, the landlord was not present; instead, there was a woman, Eden, presumably a manager (also highly unprofessional), and Fabron, along with all the roommates. The call clarified who would pay which bills and emphasized that we should "team up" if something went wrong with the apartment, which could have been handled via group chat or email. It felt like a scam to say the landlord required this Zoom call and that he would be present. Additionally, the agents are mostly young people who treat you like a child and catch an attitude quickly. I would not work with them again. Beware. In the end, I am living in a good room in a good apartment, but getting there was very frustrating."
