Reviews
"I had a barrell jam in a Glock. It was locked solidly in place. I spent hours trying to figure it and finally started looking for a gunsmith. I found these guys and took my pistol out to them. They quickly realized the issue and the solution and resolved my issue right away. I am very happy to have found a reputable gunsmith in SLC. I'll take all my guns there from now on."
"Got a new suppressor for an MRAD chambered in .338 Lapua that I felt uncomfortable installing it myself, took it to 2 different places in town who were also not comfortable touching it. The Master Gunsmith at this Sportsman's Warehouse location is awesome and very knowledgeable, he was able to get it installed on the spot, took him a little over an hr to get it done. I will definitely be back."
"First off I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I never thought it was possible to fix my dad's gun. It was so rusted and locked up I thought it was a gonner. Truth be told I thought you would be able to make it wall art at best. I have never been around a firearm in such bad shape before and had such little hope it could be saved. It spent 5 years in a storage unit rusting away from a Leakey roof and was far beyond savings. It was perfect when it went in there but my dad died shortly after a move when it was put in there and I had no idea wair he put it. I finally found it after years of looking and was devastated when I found it. I went years thinking about fixing it but new there was no hope. Finally I just went for it and sent it in. The fine gunsmiths called me a few mounths later and asked me what I wanted to do with it. I new it could not be like it was before so I told them a bit about my dad and told them to make it for a man like that. They asked me for a color and I told them to surprise me. I just wanted them to do there best and have the freedom to express there vision of what a man like my dad would want. After a few more weeks they called me and asked if I would be willing to spend a little more than we had talked about so they could put a better coating on it. I still had no idea what it would be but I told them of course, if that is how you think he would like it. A few more months went by and they called me a few days before Christmas to tell me it was ready. I payed for it and they shipped it off. A few weeks went by and it arrived. It looked better than I could have possibly imagined. Not only that but the triger was slick and the cylender gap was almost non existence and there was so little play in it I could not believe it. It was better than when I shot it as a young man 20 years prior. It was so much better than I could have possibly imagined. The deep rust damage was still there but the coating they used made it look like it was a historical relic that had so many stories to tell. The deep gouging and strange patterns from the holster that it was in gives it so much caricature. The first shot I took was so smooth I could not believe it. The dubble action was almost glass like and only got better after a few cylenders of ammo went threw it. The single action was amazing as well. So light and crisp. I could not imagine anyone doing a better job. There work takes time. They are meticulous. They will not give you anything but there best if my experience is anything to go by. They are busy. Do not rush them. They will do more than right by you. Just be patient. I promise it will be worth it if you do."
"I've come to the Gunsmith at Sportsman's Warehouse for various minor repairs on handguns, and although I haven't been happy with the very slow turnaround times or complete lack of communication, the work has been decent. However, I just had them Cerakote a 1911 in a single color, and when I picked it up, I was shocked at the poor quality for the finish. The coating was obviously added too thickly and "pooled" on the edge of the slide and frame. When I raised this issue with the guy at the counter, he told me I could have it redone, but that I'd have to pay for that. When I complained about the job, he got hostile and told me to take the gun somewhere else if I'm not happy. So I'm out $200 and have to have this redone by someone who actually knows what they're doing. I've learned my lesson, I'm never using this Gunsmith at Sportsman's Warehouse again."
"Needed my AK rebarreled due to keyholeing issues and decided to upgrade it at the same time. Talked to a couple of their employees at the Crossroads of the West gunshow near august of last year and learned I can get the work done through them, which was awesome since I didn't need to send my rifle out of state. I was able to get a base price per hour quoted, prior to having the rifle dropped off, when I later reached out. After dropping my rifle off they reached out to me on multiple occasions to make sure I was fine with any process and change they needed to make to get the job done. Even when I called they informed me of the current progress and any delays that held it up. I was happy with the service and the friendliness of the employees. Took from mid February to mid April to get all the work done. Because I had to wait for a separate part to come in I wasn't able to safely test the rifle until recently. Keyholeing was fixed and the groups tightened up (both pics were at 25 yards, green/black target prior to service & white/red after). Adjustable gas piston works as it should & the threads worked for the muzzle brake i chose. Overall rifle runs a bit slugish becasue of a new trigger group along with the new piston, nothing that shouldn't be fixed with more tuning and maybe a new recoil spring. Overall I'm happy with the service and I'd reccomend their service."
