"I see Serena and I have for years now. I had seen numerous psychiatrists in the past and none of them had actually been willing to listen to my concerns nor did they put any effort into actually getting to know me as a patient. My appointments with those previous psychiatrists were always in and out appointments that never lasted very long. Serena has actively listened to me and has done anything that she could to help whenever I’ve voiced concerns about things (whether it be about a medication or a concern with general life things). You can tell that she truly cares about her patients and I am more than happy to recommend her to anyone who’s looking for a competent and caring psychiatrist"
"I am honestly so disappointed with this facility and how it’s run. I was a patient for 2-3 years with the same provider. Only to be told after my 3rd no show (Mind you I called 30min after the appointment to let them know I had class and was running late, and also thought the appointment was at 2:30 and not 2:00) in the span of 3 years that I was told I could no longer schedule appointments with my provider or ANY of their providers there. My other 2 no shows I was literally hospitalized with COVID, and my father had a heart attack. This place has no empathy for their customers daily lives which is just IRONIC coming from a Physicatric place where individuals are already having a hard time dealing with their mental health. The provider I went to there, Marsia Carlson is geniunally the sweetest person and was actually able to get my meds right. If she ever leaves this place I will follow her. But the facility itself and how it’s run is not worth the heartache and headache of building a relationship with a provider to have it ripped away due to circumstances that can’t be helped. I don’t mind paying the no show fees. But have a little compassion and empathy for your customers. We’re human, things happen out of our controll. Especially those who have been loyal customers to your facility for so long, it’s just appauling how we’re cast aside like garbage. I will admit that they did call me back and would give me another chance if I paid a $100 fee. But after they already told me I was basically banned from their facility and had me in tears, I personally feel so betrayed I won’t be going back anyways. If you’ve read this far, be WARNED. You aren’t valued as a patient here. You’re only a number to them."
"This office is heartless. A therapist spent over a year developing a therapeutic relationship with my teen (becoming someone they trusted) and then dropped them due to too many no-call/no-shows, despite my offer to pay out-of-pocket for all missed appointments (since I know they are unable to bill insurance). They will likely reply to this review to say there were a LOT of no-call/no-shows, yep there were 5 over a period of 2 years. I offered to pay for all of them. The teen (old enough that they transport themself to therapy & manage their scheduling) struggles with ADHD and depression, you’d think that among this population, missed appointments would be expected and understood, or even seen as a sign that an individual needs someone to reach out to them. After the first 4 missed appointments (all over 9 months ago) we made a plan to help with this situation & it was working well. Most recent missed appointment was due to regular afternoon appointment falling on Labor Day & parent being unaware & teen forgetting that appointment had been rescheduled for the following morning. Office dumped patient via a letter in the mail, which wasn’t seen before teen showed up the next week for their regularly scheduled appointment, at which time they were told their appointment time had been given to someone else and their parent would be contacted. In response to my efforts to compensate them for their unbillable time (including the 4 appointments from last year, which I’d offered to pay for previously), I was reminded that their policy states that they can drop patients for ONE missed appointment and they will not accept my payment to remedy the issue. Yes, I understand it’s your policy, and that I signed a paper acknowledging that at the start of treatment… somehow that doesn’t make it seem less heartless & negligent? Shame on these people for the psychological distress and damage experienced by their abandoned patients, I’m guessing it’s more than adjust mine."
"The providers are amazing, the office works not so much. For tele-health visits it is a true nightmare. If you miss more than 1 visit they remove you from their system and you have to find another provider. Does it matter that you are on any meds, nope. Is there a procedure in place to make sure you have your med supply so you do not run out before you find another provider, nope. Do they tell you that you are no longer in their care, nope. You have to call in to figure out your status and try and scramble to get another provider."
"I absolutely love my psychiatrist at Cheney Psychiatric Associates. My psychiatrist Dr. Amy Barker has helped me so much!! I've been seeing her over a year now. She is such a good listener, she takes you seriously & even though I see her once a month now because she has me on the right meds. Although I don't see her for 1 month she still remembers without looking through my file the things we talked about. She doesn't make me feel like just another patient. I don't feel rushed, like it's in & out, where I don't get to talk to her about everything. She listens to every emotion I talk about, makes sure I'm on the right medications, so that I can live a happier life that I deserved for so many many years!! So thankful for her & the front desk staff are always so kind & helpful as well. Hope this review helps you decide on where to go & to see. She also works with kids, just to give you extra options. Her office is very comforting, I don't feel like I'm in a office, just more of a comfy room with a comfortable couch I can sit on with nice soft blankets because I've had 10 back surgeries. So she always makes sure I'm comfortable sitting before we start my session. Such a wonderful listener & gives great advice. I highly recommend this place!!! Also right outside the door there is a beautiful pond with geese & in the spring time you can sit outside in the beautiful weather & just reflect & meditate. As well as a walking path around the lake!"
