"I am so happy a friend of mine recommended Jillian as a doula. I'll be honest, initially I thought doulas were only for women who wanted home births or hospital births without epidural. When I was pregnant, I knew I wanted a hospital birth with an epidural. So when my friend recommended Jillian, I wasn't convinced that I needed a doula. However, all of that changed when I spoke to Jillian on the phone for an initial consult. The benefits of having a doula (even for a hospital birth with epidural) are TREMENDOUS. As a first time mama, there were so many things about pregnancy and labor that I was completely unaware of. Jillian is an encyclopedia. Ladies, bring pen and paper when you're talking to Jillian, she'll provide so much useful information, you'll want to take notes. Jillian helped me feel prepared to give birth. She provided a "what to expect during labor" education session and as I progressed during the stages of labor, I knew what to expect. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable, she provided me with the emotional support that I needed. Although my husband is incredibly supportive, there is something so special about the support from a doula. Jillian was always level headed, kind, and understanding if I ever called or texted her about an issue I had during my pregnancy. She was so helpful during the actual labor. She provided physical and emotional support that I needed. Trust me on this ladies, you'll probably get somewhat annoyed over the advice your husband/significant other gives to you during labor (sorry hubs!). Jillian was a great neutral voice of reason/advice that can truly helped me progress through labor (without annoying you LOL). Her postpartum visits were wonderful as well. Again, as a first time mama, it's hard to know what to expect. Jillian offered useful advice when baby was home. She also helped ease anxiety I had over my baby. Overall, I highly recommend hiring Jillian as a doula or midwife. I can't put into words how helpful she was during the entire process. I am forever grateful for her warmth, kindness, and knowledge. Also a few more shout outs... I took Jazmyne's fitness classes. Not only were the classes fun and helped me stay active, she created almost like an emotional support group. She had me and the mamas write down journal entries and engage in conversation with each other. I didn't have any friends that were pregnant at the time, it was so nice to hear from other mamas. My husband and I took the newborn and breastfeeding class. These classes were PACKED with so much useful information. My husband and I were engaged the entire time. And last but not least, we had a car seat safety check completed at Well Rounded Mama. That is another MUST DO. We 100% would've installed our car sear incorrectly if Rory never showed us how. I cannot emphasize how important it is to do a car seat check!"
