"I have stayed here often through out the years. However during the past 10 years, this place has become disgusting, outdated and falling apart. They are still using the same bedding that was there 20 years ago. I would say the beds are also that old as well. Sleep on one for a night and you too will understand how horrific they are. It was once upon a time a elegant Hotel. It is deceptive to make people believe it is a historic building. While the reality it was built in the 1970s so it is certainly not historic by any measure. I have stayed in much nicer Motel 6’s for a much better price. The current owners are eastern Indian and from what the staff has told me they are unwilling to replace or maintain their property. They have had major flooding inside the hotel more than once and you can smell the musty moldy aroma that has permeated the entire building. So…..Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere."
"Extremely creepy decor, layout, and overall design. Straight out of The Shining. Service was exceptional from the front desk, but this place sent a chill down my spine and made me uncomfortable the entirety of our one night stay. Fluorescent lights, stained carpets individually customized by floor, fake plants. This place appears in my nightmares."
"BED BUGS. My husband and I are thinking about moving to Carson City. We traveled from home and stayed at the Hardman House on January 13, 2024. My husband woke up with bed bug bites. I, luckily, was not bit as we were sleeping in separate beds. I called the hotel four times after departing the hotel recommending they not put anyone in Room 103 and staff took my name and referred me to a manager who never called back. On the fourth call, the staff (a bit irritated with me) did tell me they weren’t putting anyone into Room 103 and pest control was coming out. Please note, I did not request any compensation nor did I write a review immediately. I wanted to give the hotel the benefit of the doubt. Staff irritation tells me they are likely overworked and underpaid. We have family in the area and may likely live in or near Carson City but we will never never stay at, or recommend, this location."
"We've been staying here on a few other visits and everything had been great until our last visit. Upon arriving a couple hours early we were charged an early check-in, the room we got didn't have a shower curtain so we were moved to another room (after settling in), and then (after a couple of days) we had a sour experience. Our two kids were getting breakfast and the person on duty was staring and observing what they were getting making them feel uncomfortable. When my wife and I came out to get toast and coffee the same person called my attention. She wanted me to pay an extra $60.00 because we were 4 and the reservation showed 2 (expedia defaults to 2 when booking a hotel). Note: at checking I did register all four names. Upon checking into expedia rates, "it was same rate with 2 or 4 guests", Not sure if I will be returning again. Did not feel good when the lady (manager) made me feel like I was trying to steal from them."
"More than fifty years ago we had occasion to visit dear Aunt Helen’s home in which she had dwelt for over forty years before that. Aunt Helen was the consummate hostess exuding hospitality and good cheer. Her accommodations were quite dated with wall-to-wall carpet exhibiting loose rises due to severe relaxation of its stretching. Our bed there was equally ancient with a depression that had to have been formed by Uncle Al’s frail body. I’m pretty sure he had breathed his last breath right there in the center of the hole. Accompanying all of that was an effluvium of dust weighted down by a mist of inexpensive air freshener. Upon entry into our assigned mini-suite at Hardman House I seemed to have been suddenly time-warped back to Aunt Helen’s home. The Hardman House Hotel staff are on par with Aunt Helen and her welcoming cheerfulness; the accommodations are on par with Aunt Helen’s home. The place is simply old and it smells old. The bed is not quite as bad as Aunt Helen's. Still, it’s clean and much less costly than nearby inns. The bargain prices charged by the Hardman House probably don't allow for any facility improvements. The hotel staff are most friendly, helpful, and eager to make your stay stress-free."
