"Dr. Kay took the time to talk to me about my diagnosis and the potential treatment options. He told me about the possible side effects of each and then worked with me to start the medication I was most comfortable with. On the therapies, I am now pain free and this is the best I felt in years. I am so glad to throw away my handicap sticker. Thank you, Dr. Kay!"
"Maybe I should have read Sharon's review below and taken heed. Dr Kay is one of the worst Dr I've been to. I'm newly diagnosed with an autoimmune disease , new patient as well, but he doesn't listen to my concerns with the pains I have been experiencing more so with me not being able to stand for too long as my feet are constantly swelling, I have a rash on my hands and face along other things. All he suggets is more blood work, more medication, and come and see him in 6 to 8 weeks. No answers on why I'm in so much pain and no sympathy AT ALL. He's now suggesting I go back to my primary care. The same primary care that sent me to you 6 months ago to look at my abnormal blood results. Makes no sense saying how you're feeling, the symptoms you've been experiencing, or the pain you're in. It ALL goes over his head. I've waited 3 months for this 2nd appointment to get answers on why I'm getting worst and his student Dr spent more time with me than he could have. When he was finally able to all my concerns were invalid. Why take patients money if you're not interested in treating them. Please look for a rheumatologist that cares. Autoimmune diseases need explaining and the symptoms are real . Don't let this Dr make you feel that he is your only option. So so disappointed."
"3/22/21 appt- Dr Kay, in rheumatology, was AMAZING!! I am so relieved and happy with my visit! I have seen a few plus, rheumatologists, due to moving, change in insurances and a couple that I wasn’t happy with, through my many years of having Lupus. There have only been 2 that I was really happy with, East Bay Rheumatology, in San Leandro, Ca and Dr. Kay, in Las Vegas. Very knowledgeable, thorough, nice and came up with the best plan, by putting all pieces into place. Very pleased! (His staff was nice, too!)"
"While I really like the doctors we have worked with at UNLV, the customer service (as in, actually getting an appointment set up) is TERRIBLE. I would suggest you look for your doctor’s email address or ask them for it outright at your appointment so you can get information or questions to them directly. Calling, being put on hold for 45mins-1 hour each time, and the receptionist eventually not taking the notes or communicating to the doctor is a serious risk and has happened to us MANY times. Once you see the doctors, I’m positive that you’ll be satisfied with their knowledge and patience. If you are in a position to wait and have the resources to stay on them, this could be helpful for you and your family. If it’s urgent and you need answers or care right away, you will be terribly disappointed."
"I wish I could write a review about my experience with a doctor, but unfortunately I haven't been able to talk to anyone about even scheduling an appointment. I have been trying to call for a week and I either get a busy signal with no prompts to leave a message or get a call back, or I get a message to call back within "regular office hours" because this department seems to regularly take their lunch at least 15 minutes early. When I get re-routed to the internal medicine "after hours" line, the very nice receptionist always tells me they don't know anything and to "keep trying." I'm done trying; I'll just find a different rheumatologist."
