"I have been a resident at Point of America for 5 years. And in those 5 years I have NEVER been treated so rude or disrespectful as I was just treated by the Property Manager Lorna the other day. When I got home I had an envelope stuck in my door, when I opened it said I had a lease violation because I had unauthorized things on my balcony. I went to the office to ask what my lease violation was and what was unauthorized on my balcony. I was directed to Lorna, she came out of her office at 4:53 and was leaving and told me to come back tomorrow. I told her I was going out of town and I wouldn’t be able to come back. She put her purse down rolled her eyes at me and walked back into her office. I watched her search through paperwork on her desk switching back and forth between pages and then she came out walked passed me and stood looking out the office door. I told her which balcony was mine and that I only had an outdoor folding chair, a fake fairy garden, a stand with an outdoor plant and another plant, an outdoor light with a dog and a jar to put cigarette butts out in with a lid. She walked out of the office and went outside to the courtyard and looked at my balcony for a minute. She walked back in and said “just forget this” and took the paper from me. There was no I’m sorry there was a mistake or anything she just walked away. I said thank you and walked out. I don't complain, but from having to deal with cockroach infestations and Mice running around to Marijuana smelling hallways, garbage in stairwells and in the front entrance. My heat works 45% of the time and when i send a maintenance request all they do is come in and look at my baseboard heater and don't do anything. (This is a continuous thing) i stopped requesting someone to come take a look because nothing is ever done about it, so i purchased a small heater that i use in my bedroom where i practically stay all winter. Not to mention plowing when it snows. (takes almost a week sometimes or not at all to happen) This place is managed horribly and not matter what is said nothing changes. You pay too much for absolutely nothing. Looking at other reviews it's pretty funny that the only responses from this property here are the ones who get 4 or 5 stars. How about you do something about the ones who are giving you lower stars? All i can do is shake my head."
"I wanted to share my experience with the front desk. Unfortunately, I didn't feel respected during my interactions with them. Their tone and attitude made me feel unwelcome and unimportant. It really affected my decision on moving I. I hope they can work on their customer service skills to create a more welcoming environment for future move ins"
"This was the worst experience that I have ever had in moving to an apartment complex in the whole United States as I have lived everywhere literally. The manager was condescending and was racially biased, after showing that my proof income was 5 times the rent, she proceeded to ask if I can afford to pay my rent which I paid to 2 months in advance. The worst thing was that the unit was so dirty, nothing was clean from the carpet in living and bedroom , the kitchen, the toilet and the windows. Honestly, this was the most unprofessional group of employee that I have ever seen, this is bad business and it is giving the owners of this property a bad image. I will urge corporate to give some extensive training on how to interact and deal with paying tenants as I can not recommend this experience even to my worst enemy."
"The location is great! The apartment is very spacious, nice size living room, I really like the space in the bedroom with two closets on separate sides of the room, the bathroom has more space than I expected, and the kitchen is just right for me. Thank you POA for the opportunity of moving in. I would’ve loved a balcony, tho."
"Value for the amount of rent paid is OK, but you get what you pay for and there are many annoyances and minor issues. For example the heating and cooling is difficult to control in my building - the air conditioner is underpowered for the unit size so it's hard to stay cool in the summer, and in the winter there's no real functional thermostat for the heat and it's frequently way too hot (80-90 degrees if you have it on at all in my unit). Not freezing though, so it could be worse. [Response to owner comments 1&2: I have emailed and submitted a work order about this in the past. A maintenance guy did show up eventually and I'm sure he did his best to help, but nothing changed. It's an ancient heating system with no good temperature controls - I have it set to the minimum and it's currently 77 degrees (33 outside now), which is typical, although sometimes it seems to spike for no reason. Nothing happened last time so I see no reason to waste everyone's time submitting another work order. I do clean the AC filter regularly based on the manufacturer's recommendations and keep the blinds closed when the sun is shining on the windows, but it's still just one small AC unit trying to cool multiple room so it just can't keep up even with a perfectly clean filter - that's just a consequence of the size of the apartment and the size of the AC unit, nothing is broken, really.] Building maintenance for things like exterior doors and common areas is not great, so there can be cleanliness, security, and access issues occasionally, but usually more annoyances than real problems. [Response to owner comment 4: The door handle on one of the doors to my building is literally broken off, and has been for weeks. I already submitted a work order for this with a picture, it's still not fixed so I'm also attaching it here in case you missed it. Also, I noticed a dead mouse in the common area a few days after posting this - I reported it (via a work order) as required by the lease regarding any pest sightings.] Also, for some reason they stopped accepting packages at the office, and there are definitely package thieves in the neighborhood so it's a real hassle getting a package delivered sometimes. [Response to owner comment 3: You used to accept packages when I moved in and then you stopped. You still have the same office where you used to accept and hold them, so you chose to stop providing that benefit even though you clearly could.] Overall, I wouldn't really recommend it unless you don't mind some significant downsides to pay a little less in rent. I don't like it, but it's not bad enough to make me move somewhere else."
