About the Business
Child's Voice is a nationally accredited Children's Advocacy Center located at 1503 West 18th Street in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We specialize in evaluating children who may be victims of child maltreatment, providing comprehensive medical services through a multidisciplinary approach. Our goal is to ensure that children are not further harmed by the systems designed to protect them.
Children from newborns to 18-year-olds are served at Child's Voice, often in crisis and in need of emotional and physical support. We offer victim support and advocacy at all appointments, collaborating with partners such as law enforcement, child protection services, and health care providers.
Referrals to Child's Voice are primarily made by law enforcement, child protection services, and medical professionals. We offer outreach services at the Sanford Health Watertown Clinic on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Our medical evaluation includes a forensic interview conducted by a specially trained professional, focusing on fact-finding to better treat the child. Regardless of when the abuse occurred, we provide complete evaluations to assess the health and well-being of the child.
After the evaluation, families meet with the Child's Voice team to discuss findings and connect with necessary providers and services. Our family advocate is available to address any follow-up needs and provide support.
Child's Voice provides services to children in eastern South Dakota, as well as those referred from southwestern Minnesota and northwestern Iowa. We evaluate all children admitted to Sanford Children's Hospital for maltreatment concerns.
Insurance or Medicaid is billed for the medical evaluation, with no copay required. Lab work and urine testing may be necessary in some cases, with results communicated by a nurse from Child's Voice. We strive to create a comfortable and supportive environment for children undergoing evaluation, ensuring their well-being is the top priority.

"Worst place to bring your children for HELP. Children are coached on what to say to these people and the staff members "do not investigate". their own words not mine!! They tear apart families and do more damage then good. The staff make decisions based off their own emotions and assumptions without facts or any actual basis of evidence other then he said she said. They will remove a child from a healthy home and place them with people who are extremely unsafe and reckless. The entire state of South Dakota makes me sick, but especially this facility!!"
"Do not trust this place!!!! I was told they would be here for an hour and not have to do anything they didn't want. My kids were there for at least 5 hours and had things done to them that have caused severe emotional damage. One daughter ended up in at Avera Mental health after what they put her thru. They told her she had 12 cavities, went to dentist has zero. After this they both felt they were broken and not like anyone else. I had to send my kids to another state because I did not feel safe with them here."
"I had an excellent experience with this group. They went above and beyond to make sure my child and I were safe and secure. They explained everything that was going to happen, before it happened. I hate that we were put into a situation that we needed to use their services, but grateful they were there when we needed them. They have continued to follow up and ask if we need assistance. I appreciate their patient and family advocacy. Thank you!"
"My child was taken here after she had sexualized behaviors while at her therapist. I had reported her behavior and the fact it was consistent with sexual abuse to my child's therapist in South Dakota (I was in a legal battle to terminate guardianship) and even as a parent with full parental rights, they illegally withheld information from me. They allowed my child's abusers, my mother and sister, to be in the room with her. They had coached my child so she wouldn't say anything. This place does a disservice to children."
