Child Advocacy Centers of South Dakota

Child Advocacy Centers of South Dakota, located at 1305 18th Street in Sioux Falls, is dedicated to promoting the development and growth of children's advocacy centers (CACs) throughout the state. Through education, training, mentoring, collaboration, advocacy, and legislative efforts, CACSD works to support communities in establishing and strengthening CACs and Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) to better serve abused, vulnerable, and neglected children.

The vision of CACSD is for the CAC model to be endorsed and utilized statewide as a best practice in responding to child maltreatment. As an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance (NCA), CACSD provides technical assistance to CACs across South Dakota, working to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive response to child victims of abuse.

Under the CAC model, MDTs consisting of professionals from various disciplines such as law enforcement, child protective services, mental health, medical health, prosecution, and victim advocacy work together to effectively respond to reports of child abuse and neglect. CACSD is committed to supporting and advocating for the well-being of children in South Dakota.
