Alta Vista Elementary School

"I'm rating this school with a 1 star due to staff. They show a lack of compassion, do not communicate, gossip about one another (and discuss personal matters about children) and do not know how to handle the students. They yell and send kids directly to the ISS room because they choose to not handle every situation. They lose patience and resort to degrading each student for their own satisfaction. Bullying is a HUGE problem that has not been resolved for years! When you confront the teacher and principal, they become speechless and have zero answers and explanations. The kids there are great, not every home is perfect and they do care. Just need some guidance and Alta Vista is not the school for encouragement, guidance and love."

"Its okay, the students there are kinda mean and horrible because some of the students cuss and run in the hallway and the teacher's don't care about the students, -okay maybe sometimes they do care. The lunch is kinda good. They are a lot of bullies , but the teachers really don't know."

"The school is a joke. Dirty class rooms a new principal who could care less about prior years plans my child was it a grant program and the new principal came in all was lost. I called in and the receptionist was rude because I asked why my child was unenrolled The new principal came in removing special needs kids he came up with some policy When Ms Odell allowed my son to re enroll He claimed my kids missed 26 days of school I am sure he is new but worst school now that this new principal came in I'm calling 9 on your side I called school district and I will again I'm waiting for my kids records to be sent over for a week... School has started in Alhambra ..."

"I went here when I was younger and now I'm old enough to voice my own opinion. I didn't feel like teachers really cared about teaching. They would punish you by keeping you indoors during Friday's when everyone was allowed to go out and play.. because you didn't finish your work. What's more important, rushing and playing or taking your time and actually learning. Why should a student be punished for not finishing as fast as other kids? What if their having a hard time?"

"My nephew is a new student there and the teachers don't do anything to help him when he is being bullied. The punishment for bad children is outrageous. Kids shouldn't be allowed to watch a movie when they bully or don't follow school rules. I thought the school got better over the years; all I see is an improvement of food."
