"UPDATE...3-14-24***** THE OWNER has responded about the controller and is completely telling an ABSOLUTE LIE, about the controller being different then the one I bought from them. COMPLETELY LYING - First of all, the guy I bought the controller from WASN'T even there! Secondly, I only had one controller period. So they are discriminating, because they have no basis for assuming that I would even do such a thing as I'm being accused of. Like stealing from them. I haven't stolen anything from anyone since I was like 5 years old and I got in trouble by my parent. Im not lying and I don't scam or steal. This very disturbing, that I'm being discriminated against, which is very illegal. Also over a petty $16 in which I'M THE ONE who lost. They did not. I'm being accused for no reason of lying by this company. Very bad, and petty I did become irrate because she lied right in my face saying "it wasn't the same controller" when it was the absolute same...Period. Disturbing And YES I DONT HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TO HARRASS SOMEONES CHILD ABOUT STEALING MY MONEY. YEA that's my intent (sarcasm). I really dislike ignorance and this is a clear example of some ignorant dealings from this company. I would love to move on with my life. SLACKERS could easily rectify this by giving me my money back and I give them their broken controller. THEIRS!!! UPDATED******3/14/24 I cannot believe what I just experienced at this store. I'm a 45 year male who society refers to as a "black" person. I purchased a controller from the Mid Rivers Mall Slackers not longer than 2 days ago. The gentleman that sold me the controller (which was for an old game console) specifically told me that the unit has exposed wires on it, so the price was reduced. He also said after I asked about the return policy, that if the unit does not work properly that he could make sure that I could a refund. In which I gave $20 cash for a total of around $16. I agreed to the purchase because, he wrote that I would be refunded ON THE RECEIPT to insure no discrepancies. I get the controller home, and it does not work at all. I return to the store to get my refund. Mind you I don't go in these stores often, but have on occasion spent a few hundred dollars purchasing games and what not. Kim is the STORE MANAGER, who is VERY snarky, displaying youthful or limited people skills, and judgement of character skills. She refused to return me my money, telling me that this was not the same controller that I had purchased the other day. I could not believe it. I actually got out of my character and raised my voice, to where she had to call security and I even cursed. I never do that. I'm very polite to anyone I ever deal with. I spend money just like anyone else. It was very embarrassing to experience such disrespect and discourteousness. I believe that she assumed that because I'm black and I may be a little different in my manner of how I carry myself and do different things. It is amazing that in 2024 that we still have to deal with ignorance at this level. I am too busy to go to corporate about a $16 transaction. If you've ever been black before, you probably know what it feels like for people to assume that you did something that you shouldn't, only because you have a different skin tone, and may have different characteristics than maybe someone that may not be of the same background. I'm entirely disgusted and I will never do business with a Slackers store again. I'm really disheartened. This was over something so small as a damn $16 piece of plastic. I feel violated and stolen from. I still may go to corporate but I just don't know. This is really stupid. I have better things to deal with than this nonsense. "Not really sure how they stay in business with such nasty people working there actively making you feel like a burden and that they don't want your money for their dingy little store. First time I went there was during the pandemic, when some places cared or didn't care about mask, and they very much did care enough where this little mouthy girl felt the need to yell at me a grown man, from across the store. needless to say I definitely did not buy the $150 Sega genesis I was about to ask about. Second time was today, went with a friend was ehhh about it, but decided to give them a second shot. And this time you have a mouthy miss assumptions manager? probably the same one, but I don't know they're all kinda nasty. who wants to argue about work pay cards not working on their card reader because their POS is is a pos and doesn't accept cards that arent linked to names. Instead they want to assume you're broke and tell you to get money. "If your card doesn't have money on it it's gonna decline!!" "No, it's loaded it's just some card readers..." "Apparently it's not loaded!" "oh ok, I mean Spencers POS didnt have a problem, but sure... you're right I wont spend money here." You guys really need to take a look at who you have as the face of your business, otherwise hopefully we see the shutters close for good for the betterment of mid rivers. just another store with a bunch of junk in it."
