"I stayed at Mag’s Guest House with my pre-teen daughter . I was not aware that Mag’s Guest House is attached to a bar called Mags. I remember reading that there is free parking as well. However, the free parking they described is actually just driving around the local neighborhoods until you could find an available spot to park on the street. It took us awhile to figure out how to get into our room. There was no one to ask and no one we could really contact. The bartender was nice and helped us. The room itself wasn’t bad initially. It had a very NewOrleons feel about it. The French Quarters was within walking distance so that was nice. Our room had two separate bedrooms on the first floor separated by a little sliding door to separate the first bedroom from the second. There were no real blinds in the room and the first bedroom was right by the bar. So people were constantly glancing in. There was also a large hole in the wall with a mirror leaning against it to cover it. My daughter and I slept in the second bedroom together and locked off the first one at night because it was a bit creepy and I didn’t feel very safe. We heard music and laughter from the bar until around 4am. I didn’t complain I just figured we had only booked that guesthouse for two nights and then had reservations at another hotel so I figured it wasn’t that huge of a deal. So the second night my daughter had wanted some beignets. She had three left over and they were in a bag and she sat the bag on the dresser in the first bedroom. We went to the second room and once again closed off the first room. The next morning when my daughter walked into the first bedroom the beignet bag was gone and there was a trail of powder sugar leading from the dresser to under the bed and then to the hole in the wall. I don’t know what crawled out of the wall. I’m guessing a rat but it had to have been a pretty big rat to drag three beignets in a bag into the wall. I called the number for checkout that I received by text and informed them of what happened. The guy sounded like that was a normal occurrence. Lol. I will never stay at Mag’s Guest House or suggest anyone else ever stay there either. However, I must admit it was a very memorable experience."
"Cockroaches in the room, mold in the closets and in the ventilation. I left in the evening of the first night when cockroaches were out in the room for a party... And of course, the owner/manager didn't respond until Airbnb called him to cancel the booking."
"Horrible. Save your time and money. The room smelled so badly we could harly sleep. The bathrooms were beyond disgusting, which made me wonder about the cleanliness of the other parts of the room. I would NEVER recommend that anyone stay here. We stayed 1 night because we arrived after midnight and left as soon as possible. The only thing that I am greatful for is that Airbnb refunded me the better part of my stay. I still paid over $200 for an 8 hour stay, but I cut my losses. Lesson learned. If you're into being able to sleep without feeling the urge to vomit, being able to shower without feeling more dirty than when you went in, stay somewhere else. Just my opinion and I am not too picky....."
"This hotel, one of the worst hotels I ever stayed in the US. Before, I booked the hotel via Expedia app, the Expedia charged me $58 total, and suddenly I received an email, the hotel’s website charged $137? And when I called them, they told me, this for the cleaning room fee!! Why it doesn’t mention in Expedia before? Why Expedia mention the price included Everything $58!! Also, I want to thank the Expedia customer service for their time and support. When I reached the hotel, indeed, there was no reception!! No one there? I called them, and I found it difficult to reach them? And the are looks dangerous. After a while, they gave me a password for the door? And I left the hotel when I come back? I’m trying to get the password again? No one answer the phone? I will never booked through their website again, and I don’t recommend anyone to book with them."
"The pictures looked great but this place is a dump. It was remodeled on the cheap with paint covering up past sins. The plaster had fallen from the walls in several places and the were vines growing in through the bedroom window. The furniture looked like it came from Goodwill with the fabric torn in several places. There was only one small hook and a small towel bar to hang towels in the shower. The shower floor was filthy and unfinished and there were bugs. There was no maid service, so we ran out of towels The toilet was on a platform so high that our feet did not touch the floor. The bar patrons from next door could stare in at us through the small flimsy curtains, providing no privacy. The room was not ready for check in on time. There was a coffee maker and condiments but no coffee or cups. This is the worst accommodation experience we have ever had. We couldn't wait to leave. To top off this terrible stay, the additional charges were exorbitant, the cost of an additional night."
