"This magical home in The Garden District made my dream come true of staying in New Orleans like a local! The instructions for accessing the house were multiple paragraphs long and we checked in late at night so we got confused, but luckily some other guests arrived and walked us through it. We arrived to a welcome bag with keys, a map and local snacks. I'm really grateful the kitchenette is fully stocked so I didn't have to waste any of my yummy Flamingo A Go Go or Dooky Chase leftovers. The bathroom is equipped with a beautiful antique claw foot tub, care instructions and toiletries. It was easy to connect to the WiFi. Wonderful peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle in The French Quarter, but only a 10 minute ride away from the festivities. Conveniently, there's even a street car stop in front of the house. Paula's hospitality coupled with the private balcony in apartment D, made her home feel like our home. If you love antiques, mature trees, southern hospitality and French colonial architecture, look no further because this place lives up to the description and photos."
"Why anyone would not give this 5 stars is beyond me. The facilities, amenities, and location were fabulous. Loved the hostess and her daughter. The balcony was perfect. If this place isn't for you, you don't like New Orleans"
"Stayed one night. $25 extra for parking per car. $50 fee for dog. Yes folks $50 for dog. Room looks clean. Check in process was a little uncomfortable..."
"DONT STAY HERE! booked for March 2021.There were cockroaches among other bugs, which I know is normal for the south, but there was a mix of dead and alive. The dead bugs could have at least been swept up. The minimal amount of cleaning was done. There was grime, dust, dirt everywhere especially in the bathroom that also has sheer curtains so anyone can see through them. Even taking a shower you don't feel clean. The owner does live on the first floor. The first night it had rained. The ceiling leaked all night. We had to put a pot under the leaks. This is advertised as a "private space" when it is in fact not. There is an armoire big enough to cover a door, so you would never know there was a door unless you moved it. There is also a window above that is only covered by a black sheet, and can be moved to see on the other side at any time. This is the bedroom door to your neighbor, and has a regular door knob and lock which is creepy and unsafe. We got back to the apartment around midnight our second day. We were having a normal volume conversation and our neighbor starts excessively and extremely hard, banging on the door behind the armoire and yelling. It was very startling. We would have never known it was a bedroom door had this not happened. He also could have politely came to our door, knocked like a normal person, and said we were disturbing him. We stopped talking at that point. About 30 minutes later I called my friend to make sure she got back to her hotel safely. That is when this man came to our front door yelling and banging so hard on our door it popped the lock off the door. At that point we were terrified. Two females, had never been to Nola. We took all issues to the host first before we contacted AirBNB. The host and her daughter have the same name and both have access to the Air BNB account, so you never know who your talking to or who knows what. One of them had told us that midnight was late and we should have taken ourselves and our guest into our bedroom to have a conversation. Why would we bring anyone into our bedroom and why would we have to go into our bedroom if we don't want to when there is a living room just to have a conversation. We decided that was it for us and in the middle of the night contacted Air BNB for a refund for the nights we did not stay there. We just wanted to go get a hotel. Airbnb contacted the host and she claimed she knew nothing about anything. Thank the lord that Air bnb can see all of your messages through the app. The host refused to refund us anything at first. We followed all of the hosts and Airbnb policies on reporting, talking to host first, and time frames for a refund. I was not going to leave a bad review at first but it has been a nightmare dealing with this host. Now she will only refund us $100 when our total was $500 to stay there and we didn't stay 3 of the nights, and this was even a fight to get. Then she left us a poor review as if she was clueless putting the blame on us. We opened up an investigation through AirBNB to hopefully at least get the money back from when we didn't stay there. I have included pictures of the leak, the bugs, filth, the other guests bedroom door hidden, the review she left us, and the lock that he had popped from banging on our door so hard. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of how gross the bathroom was. REPLY TO COMMENT BY HOST: No personal personal items were left and if they were why weren't we notified? The conversations were reported, we have screenshots, and our friend was there for maybe 5 minutes just making sure we got in safely. The noise did not continue until 2AM as we also have recordings of the noise volume and the neighbor screaming and banging on the door the second time, but I cant post videos here. Correction I WAS a registered guest staying there just not the one who made the reservation. We returned the key the next day as soon as we heard a response because the host wanted to "investigate", and we needed time to gather all of our. Was not "one" remaining night but THREE."
"Didn't go in..but wanted too...so 4"
