"If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My review is based on my experience as a seller. I called ahead to make sure this store purchases watches since I was looking to sell 2 Rolex watches from my father’s collection. I told the rep on the phone about the types of watches and was honest about not having boxes nor papers. They still said that was fine and they would make an appointment that same day so I can have it viewed by their buyer in store that day. I kept my appointment and this was the first store I visited for these watches due to the great reviews they had online. Unfortunately it seems those reviews were only for buyers, and not those selling to them. At first I was met with friendliness. No other customer was at the store so almost all of them came up to greet me and ask what I was there for. I met with the buyer in a few minutes and he checked the watches and asked some questions about the watch. Everything seemed to go fine until he asked what price I had in mind. Knowing how these transactions go, I did my research ahead of time and also asked my father what his price point was. I did not want to throw out a number first though and instead put the question back on them as to how much they would offer. It started getting tense then because they would just refuse to say something and then instead now critiqued the watches to try to justify why they are not giving a price. After a while, the second buyer came by and inspected it. He then told me point blank that I should not have gone to them first and that they don’t even “need to buy these pieces.” He also tried to point out that I was not educated with these pieces and told me to “do my research.” Lastly ended with “when you get your best offer, then you can come back to us with a number but we are not going to give you a buy price.” Useless waste of my time and trip to La Jolla for a supposed reputable business. I felt so degraded after that meeting since I just packed up and left and they just ignored me after that point. Gone was the friendliness initially received since they basically embarrassed me while every one of their sales people on the floor saw/heard what happened. Maybe they are good for when you need to buy pieces (but aren’t all sales people that way?) but steer clear of this place when you want to sell good pieces. They will not be honest with you and just waste your time."

"A wonderful watch-buying experience. I was helped Belinda, who was an absolute joy to work with. She and everyone at C.J. Charles were incredibly accommodating, were not at all pushy, and were clearly knowledgeable and passionate about watches. It made for a very laid back and fun experience. It’s always gratifying to purchase a watch from people who love them as much as you do."

"In my quest for a new Cartier watch I had the good fortune of contacting CJ Charles Jewelers and speaking with Esteban Garcia. He informed me the watch I was interested in was not available but should be in 2-4 weeks. As the watch was still not available after a month I made an appointment with Esteban to look at the Cartier watches currently in stock. At no point was there any pressure to make a purchase and so I had the luxury of taking my time to consider all models. I ended up falling in love with the Panthere De Cartier which I had not initially considered. Most importantly the watch was fitted perfectly and I was given thorough instruction on working with the clasp as my existing Cartier watch is the Tank model with a strap. This was such a lovely experience I wanted to take the time to thank Esteban and CJ Charles Jewelers. And thank you for the beautiful gift you included of a Cartier candle!"
