"Brought my senior dog here for years and her regular vet took good care of her, I never had concerns. Recently staff has seemed to change which I understand happens but I felt a huge disconnect the last few times I’ve brought her in and the last time, the miscommunications were so bad I avoided taking my dog back here for almost a year but unfortunately she started to breathe labored last Friday and I knew deep down something was seriously wrong. I knew banfield had her info and trusted them to care for her still at this point assuming the last appt was just a fluke I was in denial I just panicked. They said they could fit my dog in so we rushed her there, I’m an anxious wreck by this point assuming I’ll have to make the decision to put my dog down that i’ve had since I was a literal child for the past 14 years my baby my soulmate and I’m at a loss. I tell the front that I would like blood work first they say they have to do x-rays first. I finally just give in again because I’m panicked. The vet brought her into the room with us after what felt like an hour and her breathing is worse than ever by then, she tells me that they aren’t sure the xray didn’t reveal much but they can charge me to send it in for another opinion and that they can give her a sedation and a shot to tackle any fluids in her lungs and keep her comfortable so I can monitor her and see how she is doing within a couple hours or the next morning. I’m so confused at this point because she is gasping for air and it just didn’t seem like something that could be resolved. I get a ping of hope like okay maybe she is going to make it.. The vet leaves us with her and she starts to lay down and look like she is suffocating. We call for the vet who does rush in and takes her into the back to put her on breathing assistance. She says she’ll give the shot for the potential fluid in her lungs (by then we still have no solid answer or diagnosis) but she isn’t going to sedate her or calm her anymore because she wants her to cough up the fluids. I’m confused just trying to do whatever I need to do to calm my baby down.. I even gather the courage to ask the vet about the option to put her down because I’m still confused that she hasn’t presented that option or explained anything to me at all, she just acts like she can recover or that it isn’t something she needs to suggest. she just says I could do it there if it comes to that or at an emergency vet When they brought my dog from the back, her breathing was AWFUL. I asked the girl who brought her out if the vet needed to see her again because she sounded terrible and she says she’s fine the vet just saw her. She died in my arms gasping for breath scared within 30mins of leaving that office I got her to my grandma’s house right by the vet to try to help me and we had to watch her die. I have never been so traumatized and broken in my life. My family contacted Banfield filing a complaint asking for refunds for the xrays just anything for comfort in these times when we had to take her body into a totally different vet to arrange for her body and pay for her ashes. I held her dead body for over an hour while we made the plans and found a vet to take her body late at night. Banfield only tried to deflect, gaslight, and defend themselves literally argued and acted SO COLD. That all should have been done THERE THAT NIGHT I should have been given my option and suggestion to be able to send my best friend off and say goodbye peacefully. Not while she suffocated in my arms. I can NEVER unsee that. Horrified and broken to say the least"
"Our appointment was at 7 am (when they open) and they didn't get their til about 20 mins after that. We thought we would get our pet back after an hour or so but it took them til 3 in the afternoon to give us a call saying our pets ready. I'm trusting that the vasectomy they did on our cat is fine, but it left a concerning color on where they did the surgery."
"Banfield Pet Hospital is a very friendly and clean place to take your pets, this place is pricy, though that is what you get with a chain. They are very nice and knowledgeable. For a regular check up and shots, this would be a trusted place to take your pet."
"Worst customer service. My dog had a medical emergency she’s on the banfield plan. My dog is bleeding blood I was advised to take her to the emergency room instead of them seeing her. This was during business hours. When I asked what’s the purpose of the banfield plan-she said I was being rude and hung up on me. Stay away!"
