"Its good and clean. The apartments are big and modern"
"This place got me and my family on our feet!!! First we were in the family shelter because we were homeless. We did everything we could to get housing and this place gave us our chance we needed! we've lived here for 4 years, and it's been amazing! Of course there will be hiccups in a new place and people will complain however I will always be grateful for this place!! Thank you CHUM staff and Center City housing (and others) that help keep this place going!!!"
"At the beginning it was ok living living there as I moved into there February of 2015 with my 3 kids, there was a couple staff I was super close with because I could always trust them with anything, even the front desk workers they hired eventually became nice and friendly to stop and chat to and could just make your day seem that much brighter and better until the CHUM started to fire front desk people because they were being to friendly and saying hello and stopping for a quick chat on how their day was going, then it was just constant new front desk people all the time and in which they didn't know the residents very well like AT ALL!!! And people like me who had an RA they would have no idea about, they didn't even know most of the rules of the building. That was only one negative thing about here. #2 - my 1st year in 2015 was good, like I said they actually had an amazing Child Coordinator person who did win an amazing award called the touchstone award but then after she was gone and moved on and so did some of the family coaches it was like the family coaches started to become a cult, people's kids were getting taken left to right constantly by social services and then not to mention, my son was jumped and punched and bullied and almost stabbed for Christ sake, oh and not to mention, slapped in the face by a friggin adult just cuz she didn't like me. And after me calling the police after all this and everything else, they still didn't do anything because their 50-60 damn cameras didn't work. They would only all of a sudden work if someone or someone's kid did something wrong. And they definitely played favorites in that building when it came to family coaches towards the end. What finally did it for me was when I noticed that my physical and mental health was spiraling downwards so fast after all I had worked on to try n make it better, but the very last draw was when all 3 of my kids wouldn't even leave the friggin house and they locked themselves in their room and told all their doctors they believed things would be better if they just weren't alive or around anymore because that building does nothing for then except terrorize them. When my son was smacked across the face by an adult the A**hole cops that showed up basically looked my son in the eyes and said there's nothing that they can really do about it. It would be pointless to bring to court and she basically pretty much didn't break the law. BullS***!!!! Don't ever live here unless you want your life to go down to H***!!!!"
"Most of the people who work here are amazing, the volunteers at the after school program are dedicated and kind. That said, the police are here for one reason or another every single day. Contacting the person in charge is difficult unless you don't have a job and can hang around during the day. The neighborhood is filled with crime. My children and I heard a woman screaming for help just outside last week. The police came but did not find her. The apartment we were given for the emergency shelter was filthy. We have to wash our dishes in the bathroom sink because the kitchen sink has no hot water. There is a broken, jagged glass pane we were promised would be replaced when a moved in. Three weeks later it is still a safety hazard. We were safer where we were before coming here, away from the screaming fights in the hallways and on the street outside. This place says it is here to protect children from the trauma of homelessness. We at more homeless here than we ever were in our drama, violence and crime free camper up the hill."
