"The guy describing this complex as a Marriot is totally delusional. The building is old with cheap ambience and poor maintenance. The guy in charge is very rude and he is known as "Howard The Coward"."
"I moved here 2 years ago in January 2022, great so far plus current manager, Howard is great, helpful. My unit is very nice and fully upgraded with new balcony glass railings, new wood floors, new windows, stainless steel appliances, new paint, new central heat and air conditioning, new cabinetry. Some units have balconies others have patios, 18 units do not have any outdoor space, but there in community outdoor space 2 large areas with tables and chairs. This is a no smoking complex. In town location 2 miles to downtown San Diego or 2 miles to Mission Valley its quieter than most other central locations. My 1 bedroom is larger than most, only 4 like mine in the building at 700 sq. ft. most 1 bedroom with or without balconies or patios are 600 sq. ft., so I pay a premium price, but well worth it especially with my great view and top floor location. Close to public transportation; a 1/2 block for 2 major bus routes. 2 major hospitals within a mile. Smart and Final, Ralphs, Whole Foods and Trader Joes (Groceries) within several blocks, same with banks Wells Fargo and Bank of America, numerous restaurants, houses of worship all in walking distance. Units range in price from about $1,945 for 1 bedroom to $2,600 for a large 2 bedroom 1 bath, 800 sq. ft.. My large 1 bedroom penthouse unit is $1,995. Parking when available is under the building in a gated area for $100 extra a month. Building has a wheelchair ramp, elevator, community room, gas bbq, community laundry, exercise bike and treadmill. For anyone not familiar with San Diego pricing; the above might sound high, but being here since 1976, the pricing is average to better than average meaning lower than others in area; plus owners are doing upgrades as units come available. Something many apartment owners do not bother doing. All my senior neighbors(this is a 55+ Building) are respectful and quiet. Pets are allowed on approval and additional deposit and monthly fee. Building allows Section 8 rental assistance. And there is no swimming pool as one reviewer said, but numerous pools in area or relatively close accessed via buses and trolleys."
"My father lived at Georgia Regency for about 5 years and loved his apartment. The community within is fantastic and the location is great. My complaint is not of the apartments themselves, but more of “corporate” (what they like to go by). After surviving COVID-19 my father was very ill. We made a pact that I would never put him in a nursing home, so he fought to regain his health so he could return home to Georgia Regency. Unfortunately, he was never able to fully recover from the impact of COVID-19 and passed away in late June. Wanting to save as much money for his funeral expenses, my family worked tirelessly to clean out his home in 48 hours so he would not be charged July’s rent. After turning in the keys, the property manager David said the apartment was clear and I would have my fathers security deposit returned. Weeks went by so I contacted David in order to find the status of the security deposit. David told me that “corporate” stated my father breached his contract and they were requesting July’s rent. If I did not pay they would take my fathers security deposit and would come after the estate next. Being a model community member, I couldn’t believe Georgia Regency acted in this manner. I understand the breach of contract, but an unexpected death should not be something you penalize mourning families over. I would not recommend Georgia Regency to any seniors in San Diego."
"I've only visited and seen one apartment while looking for a place for my mom in 2017, but after reading the 5 star review I thought I'd make a couple of corrections and add some unbiased facts. There's no pool, and definitely no "rooftop swimming." The only accessible rooftop area is a relatively small open space on the front (East) side of the building, so no sunsets, and definitely no "360-degree views of San Diego," unless you're on the top of the building, which is off limits. The unit I saw had only 2 windows, no balcony and was very dark inside. And by no stretch of the imagination is this "luxury" living. The building was clean and fairly well maintained, but extremely basic and not very inviting, and the rooftop community area is sparse, with a very basic gym and barbecue area. The manager, Joe, I think, was very friendly and personable, and the residents I encountered seemed friendly and happy, so I doubt he's the same one as the nightmare manager mentioned in the one star review. It is a nice area and the prices were fairly reasonable, but I determined that the only unit I'd even consider for my mom was the top (4th) floor unit on the southwest corner. Although I never saw it, it has a balcony on the south side so gets lots of light, and with southwest exposure I assume isn't so dark inside."
"Oh. My. Lord. I do not know where to begin. If you ever want to hear about the biggest living nightmare, contact me somehow and I will give you the details of what happened to us here at the Georgia Regency. What you are about to read may seem unbelievable and trust me, if I didn't have photos of shattered glass, I wouldn't believe it myself. I started to write a long review in detail, but it was too many characters. So let me be (sorta) brief. I had already suffered trauma in my life that have PTSD from. While living at the complex, I suffered panic attacks from my past. Then the following happened: after five years of living there, management turned to hell. The new manager started off as rude and now is as avoidable as Jack Nicholson in The Shining. Later, he allowed drug addicted neighbors to live and stay upstairs from us. They slandered us, stole property from us, and then escalated to calling the police on us what seems like a billion times, practically for no reason other than... watching Seinfeld. They accused us of trying to kill each other. They called social workers on us. Meanwhile, the noise they made from the dogs they used to beat was impossible. In part what they were doing was retaliation for us calling the Humane Society. But after one of the men upstairs crashed through our triple pane glass window in the front that is made to keep people out, trying to strangle us after falling in the window, calling us derogatory names and then running off and telling the police he had alibis, we were convinced by our lawyer that not only were they drug addicts, but the fact that management sided with them and did not put them in prison, that management was run by slumlords who probably did illegal activities themselves. Around this time, they also rented out the apartment next to us to a literal prostitute who advertised her tricks by word-of-mouth. She was a hellion who knew the men upstairs and also threatened to kill us over a bag of trash. Management also never fixed anything in the apartment in the last years. Did I mention we were there 11 years? We had no trouble before these men upstairs. Yet because management was on their side, they asked US to leave and eventually forced us out. I have never lived in more fear in my life than I had at this place. I was abused, slandered, became suicidal and even had to check myself into the hospital twice. Funny huh, how these men claimed we were so bad, yet not until the last two years or so out of 11, when we just happened to live under them, we became that way. Hmm...what was going on during the other 9 years? Now my PTSD has reached an all time high. I believe management may have changed, but stay away from this place like poison. I know this review will be flagged or whatnot, so I'll have to keep posting it. Perhaps this place was built over a burial ground, because never before have I experienced such fear."
