"It's basically downtown's cheap motel. You're paying for the location. Parking didn't cost extra and we had no significant negative experiences or surprises during our stay. If you have the extra money, you may want to consider a small upgrade. If not, this place will likely serve your needs just fine."
"The manager of this place is a menace. They require a $200 deposit. The manager looks for ANY reason to keep the deposit. If she can't find one, she invents one. Clearly she's using it as a way to make extra money -- for the hotel or for herself, who knows. During checkout, there was a guest complaining loudly about the $40 a day parking fee he was charged. Two problems: the fee is $20 a day, not 40. And he didn't have a car. Oops! The woman ahead of me checking out was in tears. She wasn't getting her deposit back because they found some makeup on a bed sheet. I'm pretty sure this hotel does not spend $200 on a bed sheet. She said my deposit would not be returned because I had smoked in the room and there was blood on the bed sheet. Neither was true. The "blood" was actually soup that would have washed out easily, and I gather her reasoning for saying I smoked in the room was because the room smelled like air freshener. Let me repeat that: the room smelled good so I must have smoked. So beware the reasonable rates here. When you factor in the loss of a $200 deposit, the rooms are anything but reasonable. Three people were being grossly overcharged just in the 10 minutes I was there for check out. If she does that all day long, the Days Inn is making bank just from deposits. Don't be fooled. The guy (who was very nice) who checked me in even warned me about the manager as best he could while not risking his job. By the way, I think it's funny they say this place is "downtown/convention center." It's in Cortez Hill and nowhere near the convention center."
"This hotel is a scam. The pictures on the Internet did not reflect the way it presented. It was severely outdated towels, and washcloths were not even provided and had to be asked for the lobby area was dark and dingy and had a smell to it. the office staff, or not very friendly, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I will never stay here again."
"Definitely on the lower end of Days Inn locations. Peephole was broken and stuffed with tissue (???), killed a roach in the bathtub, and certain light switches were broken. Generally a bit rundown. I would not recommend booking here at full price, no more than 80$. Staff are nice and my room was huge at least. Wish it was more like the Encinitas location."
"The hotel is pretty worn off and would urgently need some renovation. The shower was a bit reluctant to operate. No cupboard and only 4 hangers on The room service didn’t clean my room for three days and did so only after my complaint. The access card stopped working every evening and had to be renewed every day of my 5 day stay. The location is in walkable distance to Gaslamp quarter (ca 20 min walk) which is quite good. The planes are passing wt low altitude in about 300ft distance in their approach to San Diego airport - lucky they dont fly all night."
