Villa La Jolla 8540 Via Mallorca, San Diego, CA 92037

"These are the condos off Gilman/via Alicante. My experience has gotten worse year after year. My car has been keyed over 8 times in past year, hub caps stolen, and the HOA refuses to help install video cameras or light detectors, or help at all. I have also been trolled on here and Facebook by other owners. It is not a safe place live and there is no support. Dogs off leashes, nasty neighbors that confront you over noise, watering plants, basically breathing air warrants a confrontation. Homeless people hang out in the grass in front of condos. Laundry machines that don't work, and people will touch your items if you don't grab right away. People park anyway they want on the parking lot, block you in, oh well, park in my space, yep. Very stressful place. Agree with other reviewer the cooking smoke from unit below comes right through the vents, all the meat, stinky and disgusting. My car has been keyed over 9 times now over time in the parking lot, the HOA will not help, will not put in Security Camera's or move my spot. This is not a safe place to live. My car has been ruined with over $10k in damages and police are involved. Not a place you want to live with a bunch of hoodlums."

"I Love this place! Villa La Jolla Condominiums is a great community ! Beautifully landscaped, two well kept amazing sparkling salt water pools and 2 hot tubs, bbq grills, poolside chairs and tables, . A gym and a clubhouse for resident use! It’s a live in staycation! Nice neighborhood and neighbors, walking distance to UCSD, .shopping, movies, restaurants, multiple bus stops and a soon to be finished train metro station only a mile away! Walking distance to the VA La Jolla Hospital, and a short drive to multiple hospitals and medical facilities all within a few miles. I rarely need to drive my car, so it stays parked in it’s assigned and covered parking space! Who gets to live like this??? I do!"

"I celebrated moving out of these doghouses!!! The condominiums are privately owned. The complex is itself isn't managed too well and they are scaling down on their amenities. What's more, the walls are paper thin."

"Each condo is separately owned and decorated/updated by the owner so what you get here can vary a lot - check out photos of the unit you want and evaluate the price based on finishes. The layout is nice, decent bathroom, large bedroom, galley kitchen. The complex is quiet, I guess that can depends on your neighbors though. My main complaint is the "gym" - it is a tiny room with cobwebs, a few old cardio and circuit machines, nothing else. Depending on your location, you may have to walk a bit to the closest laundry room - but the machines are decent and you don't need quarters (you fill a laundry card with money). Main pool is clean and large but obviously busy on the summer weekends with kids and families. I do like that packages get delivered directly to your door. I'm not a fan of the landscape - there's a giant tree which grows into our balcony (blocking our sun and bringing spiders). There's always plenty of street parking for guests on Via Mallorca. Walking distance to Ralphs plaza is the best part, and I always feel safe in the area."
