"Stay away from this apartment complex! There is ongoing constructions so it's very noisy and wakes you up at 7am in the morning every day. And there is very limited parking space. The office doesn't provide enough parking for the residents and we had to park on the street of which they said it was ok, but then suddenly one day my car was towed away. I had to pay a lot to get my car back, and the office is not doing anything to resolve this issue to our satisfaction. I'm very disappointed with their customer service and management office. Worst experience ever. I'm sharing my experience here so hopefully you don't have to deal with this awful place"
"UPDATE: I do not recommend living here. PRIOR review: I’ve lived in the area for about three years and was excited to see this community get built. I’ve lived here for over a year and no longer can recommend it. In fairness, let me share the pros and cons: the layouts utilize the space very well. Depending on the building and orientation, you will get beautiful natural light. Some buildings are close together however, making it likely that neighbors can peep in on one another. The appliances are new. They are not top grade. The kitchen design is solid with adequate cupboard space. The quality of the materials is so-so. Having a full size washer and dryer in the unit is wonderful as are two entrances. Love the high ceilings, window features and balcony space; wish the closets were larger all around. On site maintenance means they do respond to issues quickly and usually resolve things quickly. About the classes. This is perhaps the most unique thing about these apartments. The dean of the school, Ilana, is wonderful. She represents the community best of all and works hard to create a sense of connection and fun. She continues to find amazing teachers and courses. There aren’t any amenities like a pool or rec area, and half the grounds are in ore-construction phase (not yet beautified) and neighbors move out quickly (they offer short leases) which are two drawbacks IMO. I think longer leases are better suited to an intentional community. Pets are allowed and for the most part pet owners do a great job of cleaning up. Kids play in the neighborhood streets which is also good to see. Rents seem to be in the high side but electricity was included for tenants which offset the rent. So why have I given the property such a low rating now? I have come to learn that this may actually be a tax scam and the ownership deceitful. They are taking in higher rents than warranted for a concept that is more smoke and mirrors than truth. With new leases, they are no longer including electricity, rents are being raised during economic uncertainty (at the time of writing this, the world is gripped with corona virus anxiety), no pool or community center is forthcoming and the primary conclusion is that they are greedy. The tenants I have spoken with are furious and most and want to move out rather than renew their leases. Would I recommend this place? Not anymore - it’s renter beware at this time and that makes me sad."
"The apartments look nice and the staff was friendly, but the leasing agent made it difficult to want to live there. They got us to come take a tour off of some false price advertising online and everything just went downhill from there. In the fine print it says that it’s mandatory to take classes there or else you are “breaking your lease” and they can kick you out and keep your deposit. That might not be a big deal for some retired folk but I work so much I could literally not make a single one. I think I just barely missed a bullet on this one."
"I lived at this apartment complex for over a year and finally moved out last month. We just called ascent and got off the phone with Katie, the property manager, and this was by far the WORST customer service we have ever experienced. She was extremely rude and short tempered. Which is disappointing to say because the rest of staff are extremely friendly people. As for apartment itself, like many others have stated, it looks nice and has big layouts, however, the materials they used are CHEAP. We didn’t like the way the apartments lined up directly next to one another. We usually had the blinds closed because it was strange to have people living directly across from us look into our apartment. Walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbors throughout the day. There’s no sense of privacy at the apartment complex. I highly recommend moving elsewhere."
"I am a current resident and this review, unlike some of the others I read, is being written by someone living at Ascent at Campus of Life. Yes, the office staff and Dean are nice to your face, but the maintenance man is rude and condescending. The staff are not sorry he is this way, and instead justify his behavior. The manager is constantly lying and can not be believed. Yes, the apartment is shiny, new and spacious. However, the walls are so thin I am awoken by my neighbors verbal fight. The appliances are the cheapest money could buy and very loud. There is an extreme lack of storage inside the apartments. If you have a garage, you will have to use it for storage, not your car. There is a lack of parking available and this an ongoing struggle for residents here. You can expect to find a threatening email in your inbox and have your vehicle towed. This is not an education institution, but a tax scheme by the owners. No class is an actual accredited unit. I'm pretty sure the hiking leader is also a cashier at REI who the "dean" asked to teach a class while in the checkout line. This is the quality you can expect here. The neighbors are great! We are collectively coming to the same conclusion, this place is a fraud. They are wasting our time and assume we aren't smart enough to pick up on their scam. I see a lawsuit in their future. One last thing about the property, besides the fact that there are zero amenities, and no pending date of any amenities being constructed, the buildings are built so close together and aligned so that each apartment is looking directly inside the apartments across from you, that you do not have any privacy and will have to live with your shades closed the entire time you live here. When I mentioned this to the manager, she instructed me on how to open a couple of the blind slats while keeping the rest closed , so some light could get in. Skip this place!"
