"My husband and I are native Californians but new to San Diego. His career took us to San Diego at the end of 2013 and we needed a place quick! We didn't have much time to research it online for reviews but what we had found was not the best. With a new property manager from Texas, Charlie was replacing another property manager which seemed to be the source of the bad for the reviews I came across. From our experience of living there for 1 year now, the source of the issues stem from the Hill REM Inc. property management company. The onsite manager has again been replaced, now with Lorena, and takes not days but weeks to fix any sort of maintenance issue even emergencies that occur. In our unit we had 2 instances in which water flooded our carpet due to old water pipes. This is a constant issue not only for my unit but EVERY unit in this complex. Be ready to deal with that inconvenience! Another nuisance is there are babies and toddlers in every other unit. If there's not a crying baby next door there's a toddler stomping around above you! If you are looking for a peaceful space to call your own, LOOK ELSEWHERE! Neighbors are inconsiderate and keep their sliding glass doors and windows wide open to share their child's ear-piercing screeching for everyone to enjoy. People WILL park on your designated spot. Swimming pools are not maintained and will be closed for weeks at a time. We've found dirty diapers around the pool many times that are not cleaned or picked up until it is called into the office. Doors will come off hinges or break off. Our door took about 3 MONTHS to get replaced after a maintenance request was done. This was due to the Hill REM Inc. company. They were replacing their usual carpenters and when the carpenters finally replaced it, it did not fit the door frame, it was never sanded down on the sides of the door and was rough and sharp to the touch. I was just glad to have a door and recalled the time it took to get one that I just let it be and didn't complain about the sharpness around the door. Our garbage disposal also broke and it took Hill REM Inc. 2 months to get one ordered and 1 month of it sitting around the property before the maintenance guy got the ok to install it. The Hill REM Inc. property management company is bad and it should feel bad. This is no way to run a property much less own and manage several properties!
