"The maintenance team, especially Doug, Luis, and Daniel, are great. They work together to problem solve and elevate the issues to management when necessary. We had a huge water leak in one of our common areas and Luis' response was impressive. Doug always comes with a positive "we can do it" attitude, and answers any questions one might have. Daniel was patient in resolving a lighting issue, and worked with his colleague to take care of the issue which was beyond a simple lightbulb replacement."
"So many reasons not to rent from Anacapa complex or any Irvine Company location if they're all run the same as this one. First thing we were told when we asked to tour the apartments was that we'd have to download their app. I told them we'd used rental apps in the past and they never seemed to work right so I wasn't excited to be forced to use one. The person assured me that "theirs" worked better. It did not. In fact, it failed multiple times. The first time while trying to upload the back of my drivers license which it just kept skipping over but never finishing the process. Then the app failed multiple times as we were touring the complex. After looking at the first apartment, it took a few times for the door to auto lock with the app but we didn't want to walk away with the door unlocked so that was frustrating having to wait. The next apartment the app directed us to didn't have a keypad lock at all. It seemed like it wasn't a vacant unit so we just skipped over that one. We then tapped the Next Step on the app assuming it would take us to the next apartment on the list but instead, it gave us a screen that said, "Walk to Parking Spot. Thank you for touring Anacapa." We had more apts on the list to view but since the app thought we were done, I called the office. The guy didn't know why it sent us to an apartment that didn't have a keypad lock nor could he figure out how many more apts the tour had scheduled for us to see. The app didn't allow me to skip ahead on my own to find out myself but at this point, we needed to see more than the one we'd already previewed. The guy said he would get us to the next apt to view but in order for me to get those directions, I would have to close and re-open the app. I actually had to do that twice and then it finally updated with another apartment to view. When we got to the next apartment as directed, the app wouldn't unlock the door. We tried 6 times holding my phone in different positions next to the lock but each time, the key pad screen said "Unable to engage the lock. The lock is taking too long to respond, keep your device close to..." Under that it had a Retry and Contact Us button. So I called the office again. The woman who answered this time said even she wished the company would go back to human tours instead of the self-guided ones with the app. Irvine Company: listen to your potential residents and your employees. She also said she could call the on-site office and have someone show us the rest of the apartments since the app wasn't working right but at that point, we'd eliminated any Irvine Company complex from our consideration. Plus, if a human could have given us a tour, why wasn't that option offered the very first time I contacted the office to make the appointment? Or even after the first time during the tour when the app thought we were done with the tour? Another tip for the Irvine Company execs. Read the reviews people leave for your properties. They're not good. Just because you're huge in Orange County and have spread out to other areas doesn't mean you know how to treat prospective tenants or current ones properly, At some point, you'll lose good ones in the process. Overall, this was one of the most frustrating and horrible experiences we had while looking at apartments and it wasn't just because their app didn't work."
"Needed service for my garage because the lifting springs broke. Called the office and they told me an outside service contractor would be out the next day between 2 and 4 PM. Took off work early to meet them and at 4:30 nobody showed up. Went to the office and they told me there was some sort of mix up and my appointment wasn't for 5 more days. I told them there is no way I can go another 5 days without access to my garage. One of the maintenance techs showed up, makes a few calls and had a tech out the next morning. Thank goodness for this guy that was squared away"
"My boyfriend lives at Anacapa and all I could say is the maintenance team is top notch . John and Luis were very professional and very knowledgeable. These guys deserve a raise ! Thanks again! I would definitely recommend friends and family to live at Anacapa."
"The maintenance team has been great and made numerous repairs when things were not working. Recently Sam fixed several things in the apartment and coordinated getting the carpet and floors taken care of. The team Sam sent to our apartment did a great job. Thanks Sam!"
