"Be warned we had to send a letter from the court to get our deposit. The property manager never responded to a single email and ignored my voicemails and calls. They act so inconvenienced when you ask why they are illegally holding your deposit. This is the second time we’ve rented with GREYSTAR (had I known how horrible they were with returning deposit I wouldn’t have rented a second time with them) and the second time we had to threaten to sue for them to even acknowledge our deposit. Avoid any place owned by GREYSTAR or be prepared to take them to court every time you move out. We lived there for two years. The laundry machines are always broken and every time they fix it they increase the price per load. They turn off the water every week for “maintenance issues.” My husbands car was broken into at the carport and the property manager never replied/acknowledged my email. This place is mismanaged"

"These apartments are far too expensive for what you are getting and most importantly it could be dangerous to live here. During warm days/ summer, my small studio easily reaches 90-100 degrees inside. This is with multiple fans going for a cross breeze, with bags of ice, all windows and doors open, and curtains drawn to keep it dark. Not only is this unbearable, it could be dangerous for certain groups. There is no AC and it does not begin to cool down inside until maybe 10pm. The buildings are old and poorly designed in general, but especially for air flow. It is unacceptable and unethical to house people in rooms that stay at 90+ degrees for 10 hours a day. The balcony is falling apart and was supposed to be repaired before I moved in. A year+ later and nothing. The bannister is so loose that I could rip the whole thing out with my bare hands if I chose to. It is not safe to use the balcony. Half the laundry machines don't work because the card readers are constantly malfunctioning and are never serviced. And the inside is poorly put together, no windows, screens, drawers, or cabinet doors fit or close properly. Not to mention the neighbors are nightmares with paper thin walls that make noise all hours of the night. These apartments are ridiculously expensive for the less than ideal living conditions in these buildings."

"The worst apartment complex in Monterey! We searched for an apartment and scheduled three tours, but no one could show us. The application fee is the most expensive in the area, and nevertheless, a deposit is 150$ each. Moreover, they are never at the office, so don't expect to answer your phones, emails, and messages. We needed to chase them for three months. We hope they will improve their service, but before that, you should pay attention and be aware."

"The WORST apartment experience. The staff is never in the office and barely answer phone or email messages. One of the neighbors' dogs was peeing through their balcony onto my car and the staff never responded to me about it. There was also a problem with smoking and cigarettes all over this non-smoking complex. Laundry utilities were constantly broken. I had horrible allergy symptoms after moving in and found cat hair/cat toys/dust underneath the stove (maintenance did respond and clean that when I asked). Plus, my heater was broken for multiple weeks, and when it was "fixed," it caused a gas leak. I had to call PG&E to shut my gas off. I regret ever moving here!!"
