"Dated motel but location is great. Like other people have stated in their reviews, the rooms are outdated and lots of repairs need to be done to the rooms (parts of the wall are all torn off, chunks of wood out of the furniture). This hotels definitely works well for if you have a dog. The wash area is great to wash off your sandy dog after a short walk to the dog beach. We had an issue with our first room when we arrived as a previous dog had pee'd on the wall and that's all you could smell and the wall was still wet but the front staff was great in immediately switching us to another room. Overall based on the current reviews, it is not a 4 star motel and I wouldn't stay here again unless I knew it was more of a 3 star accommodation."
"I loved everything about it except: I got a room for $82 online. GREAT DEAL. Then when I arrived my room was not pet-friendly so they moved me (no problem), $130 incidentals "refundable" deposit , (OK but refund it; I cleaned the room), $30 non-refundable pet fee, $15 parking. I was gouged. Charge it upfront."
"Ocean Villa is a great place if you’re looking for a place that is affordable, on the beach, and provides nice size rooms. Housekeeping kept my room clean. There’s a private entrance to the dog beach which was nice since I can just leave my car at the motel and walk to the beach. There are unhoused people who live along the trail behind the motel. But honestly, they keep to themselves. Plus seeing all the dogs at the motel was extra special. I’ll be back with my dog next time. Here’s the view from the beach. FYI Parking is $15/day."
"Great place to stay with a dog! Literally only steps away from the dog beach. Heated pool! Nice patio area and direct access to fenced dog-run. There is a post-beach dog wash area with towels. Reviewers are right… the decor (furniture, lights, bathroom/shower) is outdated and the walls are thin. But seems like a relatively recent paint job and the curtains were clean and modern without the marks, stains or gashes that one often sees in other motels/chains. Beds, bedding and pillows were comfortable and clean. Kudos to the house- keeping staff! The room and bathroom were VERY clean. Room had small fridge and microwave that worked and were very clean There are on-site laundry machines. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The gardens in and around the motel are very nice and very well tended. Sidewalks, parking area and grounds were clean and swept multiple times a day and had no trash or litter. The owner and staff are clearly trying to make the best with what they have."
"Pros: Location was great, one minute walk to dog friendly beautiful beach. Staff was friendly and helpful. Mattress was comfy. Cons: This is not a nice hotel. Very old , not well maintained. The walls are paper thin, we were on main floor facing dog park and could here people upstairs like they were walking on plywood. Also couple fighting next door, could hear every word. Try and get upstairs room if you can. Bring earplugs. Heating/cooling is a wall air conditioner unit about 4 feet from your head when sleeping. It is super loud in each mode, no idea how you could sleep with it on so would wake up very cold. Blankets are paper thin so if visiting in cooler months get extra blankets. Deadbolt on door was broken, nowhere to set anything down in shower for some reason. Way too expensive for its quality, and they make you pay for parking, which I personally hate when hotels do. Almost no outlets to charge anything. If I had to do again I would stay at a newer hotel and drive to Dog beach, which if you like dogs is awesome. There is a huge public parking lot for the beach right beside the hotel!"
