The Beachcomber Motel

"I'm giving this place a 3/5 for location, friendly staff and being dog friendly BUT the room is NOT set up for dog people. The thought is nice to have a dog door in your room that goes out to your own "private yard" but there is no back door in your room to access the yard. So, if something was to happen to your dogs in the yard, you would have to go out the front door and run all the way around, go into the dog park and then get to the yard. The dog door, bed and bowls provided is clearly for small dogs BUT the fencing on the yard is for medium/large dogs, small dogs could easily get through the fencing no problem. The gates on the yard outside and for the dog park show they are key card access but they are not, you push them and they open. This means, the public used the dog park and had access to your "private yard". The room had no hooks for leashes or dog blankets. There is no where to hang towels- for human or dogs- except for the one small towel rack that is above the toilet. There was no soap provided in the bedroom sink, soap is needed to clean dog bowls. I would have used the sink in the bathroom, where the soap was, but there was no counter or shelf to put bowls while cleaning them. I thought it was nice that the shower was set up so you could bath dogs but no dog shampoo was provided. The welcome bag they give at check in- did not have a bed sheet and they only gave me one- I had 3 dogs. Also, I would not recommend a large rug in a dog friendly room, it holds a lot of smells. I would stay here again if I had to, I loved being right by a dog friendly beach, but I would not spend the extra money for the "private yard" dog friendly room."

"Great location and dog friendly motel. Step out to the bluffs and the led/bike trail that goes for miles in either direction. There are paths down to Pudding Creek beach. The deck and fire pits were a nice touch. Only reason for 4 vs. 5 stars was room ventilation. It was hot and there is no bathroom fan, so steamy as well after showering."

"Wonderfully surprised at how perfect this place is! All rooms have a fantastic large window/glass door view of the ocean. Great walking path runs behind the building with several paths to the beach. We'll maintained, fenced yard for dogs so my pups could play off leash. Short drive to the super cute downtown. Desk staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Fire pits for chilly nights! Would've liked to have stayed longer!"

"Great location! A less than 5 min drive to the skunk train and downtown fort bragg. There is easy access to the beach and a walking path from the hotel. The fire pits were definitely a nice touch. As well as the captains deck was a nice lookout with tables and chairs.The rooms were large with a comfy bed. It also had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee pot w/mugs. The downfall of the room is the bathroom and balcony. The bathroom is super small, and the water pressure for the shower was nonexistent. The balcony has a great view of the ocean and your neighbors. You don't have any privacy from your neighbors. They can definitely look right into your room. As it did happen to me. Overall, we enjoyed our stay."

"My husband and I went up to Fort Bragg for one night to ride the Skunk Train. While looking for a room we wanted specific things like close to the ocean, clean and a jacuzzi and we found all here so we booked it. We booked months in advance and we were pleasantly surprised to find out on arrival that they had just remodeled. Room #145 The room was super clean, the bed was very comfortable for us. Jacuzzi not updated but works just fine. Fills slow so have patience. I love that they took out the carpet and replaced with tile. There is no AC or heater in the room but this time of year it was not needed but during summer I'm sure we would have needed AC and during colder months heat is needed so not sure why they are provided at all. The check in was great. The person who helped us was very friendly and explained all aspects of property and rules due to fire pits and whatnot. I never have dealt with a nicer front desk person. We have an EV car and there are 2 chargers but unfortunately we couldn't use either because there was a Tesla parked in one that was not charging all night and a motor cycle parked in the other. There are super charges close by but would have been nice to get a free charge. I'm sure I could have went to the front desk and they would have found the owners but it's not worth the hassle. The beach is a close walk. They have a cute little dog area. The outside of property is well maintained and beautiful as well."
