"I have been an international student for almost 8 years. The first years were great I had an amazing advisor but at some point, this changed and I got a very rude lady who never answer what I'm asking. It's like we were talking in different languages. I decide to go in person to see if we would be able to get better communication and it was worst. My advisor wasn't there and another advisor came. I have to say the only thing she didn't say was I'm stupid but hey she made it clear with her face when she was saying how was possible a college-level person like me will not understand the information that is on their website. I felt more offended than before and I'm so grateful I will finish this year and I will not have to deal with people with cero patience, tolerance, and respect for others. This office should make an internal evaluation because from what I read in these reviews I am not the only one who has been feeling disrespected in this office. I have to say that the Indian guy at the reception was very kind and listened to what I had to say and I would say he agreed with me about the way this lady talked to me."
"International students please aware. This is my own, true experience. I was an international student at HCC until the fall of 2020. In Spring 2021 I transfer to UH Main. I sent the request to transfer sevis, transcripts, etc from HCC to UH. I believe that everything was good and I went on to continue my study at UH. One year later, in fall 2022. I request UH to extend my F1 program and find out I am out of status because the sevis was never transferred to UH. It is still at HCC. Despite my effort to contact and beg for help from HCC International Students Office, nothing ever happens. It wasn’t my fault to deserve being out of status. My life CHANGED for the worse and nobody knows why, everybody still goes to work, and has a good night's sleep. I have made peace with myself about this. However, it’s not just my life but my family’s hope, my parent's effort of a lifetime of dedicated work for me to be here living their dream and it’s all gone as I am illegal staying to finish my study at UH. I’m writing this hopefully any international student has their intention to apply for HCC to have a better informed of what could happen to them from HCC."
"I came to the USA as F1 student in 2010 when the school had the best stuff for F1 students. even though Mr. Thomas is still there because i met him; all the new staff are so hard to understand and are so misleading there one so called Pham I pity people who are under her advisement. She confused my sister in a way that she went out of status after being in the USA as F1 for 7 years went out of status for the first time because of the unprofessional and confusing explanation from Pham. Thankfully she got approved for reinstatement and she is back on the F1 status. I am glad I am becoming USA citizen next year after being an F1 for close to 8 years. My point is some African women you have as customer service especially Nigerian should not be in the for front because they are very rude. I am African myself but I know some africans are very aggressive and that can make them not be a good fit for front desk. Please you guys can do better HCC is not the same way as it was 10 years ago."
"My friend got withdrawn for no reason and the email said to contact oisss if needed guidance. So i called the office on my friend’s behalf just to be cut off mid question with a “ma’am, reply to the email or call advisor”. Whoever answered the phone couldnt even have the decency to let me finish with any of my concerns before directing me to others. But, oh well, seems like my concerns arent his concerns today"
"Worst experience ever. I’m not trying to discriminate anybody but those vietnamesse who work in the front desk think like they’re everything or own the HCC while they’re still international students like others. They have to know how to deal with customers with a better customer service. People go there because they need help, so if they are asked questions kindly they need to answer nicely with helpful ways not in a rude way. It doesn’t matter if you are international student, resident or citizen. At the end, we all HCCs. I personally don’t feel comfortable to go there"
