"I will give this facility credit for clean restrooms and food not over priced, but they should NOT be able to host an event their parking lot cannot accommodate. To have to park at another facility and walk is ridiculous. Also only half the facility has bleachers and the other side is SOL but you figure that out when you get there."
"Subpar Experience at Texas Tornados Volleyball Facility I have recently attended several volleyball tournaments at Texas Tornados, and unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed with the management and maintenance of the facility. Despite the potential for a great sporting experience, several issues detracted significantly from the days. First and foremost, the cleanliness of the venue, especially the bathrooms, was below acceptable standards. For a facility hosting numerous teams and spectators, maintaining clean and accessible restrooms should be a priority. However, during one of my visits, the bathrooms on one side of the facility were closed early for cleaning and never reopened (for over 2 hours) despite an absolutely full facility resulting in not only inconveniently long lines, it ran out of supplies and was extremely filthy at the remaining facilities on the opposite end. The management of the seating areas also left much to be desired. Despite a $10 entry fee, which sets an expectation for basic amenities such as seating, the bleachers were inexplicably closed and moved aside at 6:30 pm, forcing several attendees to stand for extended periods. This decision seemed particularly illogical given the lack of alternative seating options and the ongoing nature of the games, which did not conclude until after 9:00pm. They have a very limited amount of metal chairs and a few with torn up cushions down to the metal in them. You can bring your own chair but good luck finding somewhere to set it if the facility is full that day. Moreover, the closure of the snack bar at 7:00 pm and the prohibition on bringing outside food and drinks in exacerbated the situation, especially for those relying on the facility for hydration and snacks during the long events. The early closure of amenities, combined with the restriction on outside food, significantly impacts the spectator experience. This also results in no where to sit if you happen to be sitting in that area when they close it. The parking situation further compounds the issues faced by attendees. With limited parking availability and numerous reserved spaces remaining unused at every event, finding parking was both frustrating and inconvenient, detracting further from the overall experience. Based on my visits and corroborated by remarks from other reviewers, it is clear that Texas Tornados requires significant improvements in facility management, cleanliness, and customer consideration. While the venue holds the promise for hosting enjoyable volleyball tournaments, these operational shortcomings need to be addressed to ensure a positive experience for all participants and spectators. Until these issues are resolved, I cannot recommend this facility."
"Good location, parking for the tournament was limited but they had some help directing traffic."
"Facility is nice and well organized. Been to many volleyball facilities and this one was top notch. The reason for 2 stars, no national anthem. They gave instructions on their Facility rules and were very strict about that. However how do you start a tournment with no national anthem?"
"This club is terrible. JoEllen and Jerry owe my mom an apology, and her money back. As well as majority of the families that were on the team I played on. When we made it to nationals one year, I want to say 2017 or 2018 (could be wrong), JoEllen and Jerry brought Jerry’s entire team to play the tournament. Added them to the roster, changed up some of their jersey numbers and everything. They said it was to help us, but when the games came, he had his entire team playing and minus a few of the players who played majority of the games on our team who actually made it to nationals. Me and another girl actually left because it was a waste of time and money to stay any longer. We sat, and our parents watched, as Jerry’s team actually played our tournament. Then when my mom left a review about how insane it was, Jerry called my mom apologizing and asked her to take it down. But funny thing is this wasn’t about my mom and Jerry, although she did make payments. Not only are sports favoring rich kids and their rich parents in school sports, but in club sports too. If your body and face isn’t what they want playing, they’ll replace you with a team of “nicely” made athletes who honestly are just taller and luckier. You’d think that something would be different at club level, but it’s not. High school coaches cheat workouts so their best players make the team, and club coaches bring entirely new teams to play in tournaments that other teams made it to. I’m embarrassed to even say this, because I always thought I was good, or decent. But according to JoEllen and Jerry, that’s only the people who have height like them and are as greedy about winning and having money as they are. Whole entire facility is a joke. Minus a few good hearted coaches. But this wont change any humility I’ve already faced, and is probably adding onto it. Just was thinking back about how much of a total joke this was. Maybe all those players that year could have showed up to support or something. Or given the money to charity. Or people who need it. Not to play at nationals that my team played and worked to make it to. That was my last year playing because even at school my “coach” allowed someone on the team who was never making tryouts. Still, I played and worked here and basically the same thing happened. I already have to turn into that crazy lady leaving reviews at my young age because of dumb rich and totally unprincipled people and groups like this. I don’t have a better recommendation for a club because I’m learning that sports are more political than actual politics. This won’t change what happened, and that’s why leaving this review is embarrassing because I’m admitting to sitting the bench. But at least while I was on the sidelines, I could be a cheerleader! That’s what they should have given us, cheerleading outfits and Pom poms to go with it. Maybe my actual dream of being a competitive cheerleader since I was a young girl would have paid off by that point. I did meet some amazing girls and had a good time with some coaches. So that’s a plus. ONE takeaway of this review is; if your team makes it to a big tournament like nationals, beware of another team in your age bracket at the club that didn’t make it jointing your team, and then them playing in all the games. Two stars because some people there are cool. But others were coaching because they wanted to play, not because they had any actual advice."
