"At my age, returning to college has been a long and tedious journey. At times I feel so lost on how and where to start, especially when it comes to financial aid. However, the staff at the financial aid office here are soooo understanding and patient. Everyone is super helpful, however, LAUREN goes above and beyond. I hope one day she reads this so she will know that she made a difference in my life. I was all teary-eyed and discouraged and this young lady's compassion was just what I needed to renew my spirits and persevere. THANK YOU!"
"I would take a strong heed to the graduation rates of Lone-Star College students. They just want your Fasfa money and I think other colleges in Houston would provide a better education experience. If you get a loan, expect for them not to give you Fasfa aid that semester. I was one class away from graduation, they canceled my last course and it was a cap-stone course. So essentially I couldent finish my degree, and dident consider my 5 year in the industry while I was taking the courses. Essentially, couldent get into my industry again within the time period so now if I wanted to finish my degree it would require like 4 more classes plus capstone. The degree tracker is not to be trusted, I thought I had just one more class to complete. Applied for graduation and found out that they had that requirement. Dont waste your youth and potential on a College like Lonestar, you wont go far! If your in Highschool though I'm sure that's where you can actually benefit from the education and where they pull the tiny graduation rate. Some teacher's I had were awesome though I will say that, however the advisors/system are just mediocre."
"Disappointed with me being unable to get financial aide. I have kept my grades up and prove that I am determined yet still not qualified! In the past, I did fail several classes and had a low GPA but that’s because I chose to work 2 jobs as a single mother and was unable to keep up with my school work, 2 jobs, my child, and court dates from a divorce. I obviously chose my child and jobs to pay for court fees and her needs! I’ve now maxed out my card that helped pay for the classes I’ve been paying for and the books required for it and have to stop my schooling when I literally have 4 curses left in earning my associates. So thanks LSC! For sucking and not caring and even considering the fact I have made such a HUGE improvement! Once I receive funds to finish my degree I’ll just transfer and walk another CC degree!"
"Phlebotomy instructor Zita Williams failed me in a major way. Her teaching dynamics and curriculum was terrible. She was always late which took away a lot of class time and learning. She was very unorganized, her teaching dynamics was poor. She relied on YouTube instead of reading out the book. Most of the time the YouTube videos had poor audio and she would have to continuously find another video that’s clear. That took away a lot of class time as well. She’s always on her phone with family. She doesn’t monitor us in the lab, while drawing blood. This is a major factor to becoming successful, having your professor in the lab and watching your needle sticks to make sure our alignment and needle placement is correct. I felt very unsuccessful and do not feel educated or successful to do my job in real situations. I wasted time, money and energy on a class that I gained absolutely nothing from. I do not recommend. Worthless instructor."
"I like this campus a lot! I feel the energy flowing through me to get a degree....I don't know what I got but it feels good. I have been here before when I began my Associate of Applied Science for automotive. It's been a while but I want to complete my degree.**I gave 4 stars because most of the vending machines now have snakes and drinks in them and there were no coffee shops....come on man!**"
