"We chose Frank Black over three other schools because of its proximity to our house, knowing other kids going there, and the school philosophy about work-life balance. The academics are strong and enrichment and athletic offerings are extensive. Our UIL teams, both academic and athletic, have won quite a few awards. My son has had many exceptional teachers and a few average ones. From day one, my son has loved this school. The teachers and staff took great steps to transition the 6th graders to middle school. He had been shy with few friends in elementary school. As soon as he came to Frank Black, his social situation turned around. He now has dozens of friends, many through band. Frank Black has gone through a renaissance over the past four or so years with strong neighborhood support and a fabulous new principal. Some of the negative reviews here must be old because they definitely don’t describe our experience at Frank Black. I am up at school frequently and all I see is a friendly community with occasional middle school antics. No drugs. No out-of-control fights. When my son has had an occasional classroom problem, the teachers and administration have been responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend any family considering Frank Black to take a tour and talk to our kids. Check out the karate, music, dance, and athletic programs. The waiting lists at the more established sought-after middle schools are getting longer, and a lot of families are rethinking the hardship of long school commutes."

"Our son went there 6th thru 8th grade. He loved it and we loved it as well. Principal, teachers and staff are very open and personable and we really enjoyed working with them. The school has great amenities and is becoming extremely strong in academics. The won the Houston UIL for academics in 2015-16 school year. School is diverse and the kids get along great. This is an awesome school for your child."

"This is all old their is a new principal and the school is great. And, teachers arent leaving the new principal was trying to straighten out the school so he fired all the bad teachers, alot of the ones that you are talking about that support bullying and physically punish their students."

"The principal and assistant principal have ruined this school and many a good teacher's career. Research and see that the teacher retention is at Black. No one will stay. Do you really want an inexperienced teacher for your kids?"
