"I'd give this school a 2 in a half... The school is very unorganized , on the first day of school they send the academy and college prep all in the same place, during the time for lining up for lunch, if 1 kid talks, the teachers have everyone sit back down, wasting almost everyone in the classes lunch time, for college prep they send too much homework home a day, sometimes the school has projects that are supposed to have up to 3- 5 pages with 3 minutes of music too... So on top of the project or essay, Students also have a lot of homework... the teachers are OK but they play a lot of favorites with kids. The school food is good and healthy."
"The teachers are great! They looked out for my son and helped him. The administration on the other hand is a total mess. They do not respond to messages on the school app dojo. They seem to have their favorite students and parents. If you're not one of them they don't care! Also if a student or serveral students are behaving bad the whole grade or class will get punished and will not have recess!! They don't allow parents too much inside the building."
"I wouldn't even give this school one star, but my child is reading better than he was last year. Warning to prospective parents: They teach to the test. If your child needs special help (my 3rd grader has dyslexia) they do the bare minimum. My child has struggled all year. The only other class becides reading/ English and math is gym, and because my child needs extra help he doesn't get to go to gym. Science and history aren't introduced untill 5th grade (I think). There are two sides (k-5: acadamy) and (6-9: college prep). I have had barley any communication on the college prep side (I also have a 6th grader). My children have been unhappy all year and I have no intentions of them ever returning. They only care about how many students they have, not about the individual. Think long and hard before choosing this school and ask lots of questions, I wish I had."
"Awesome school!! I hope my kid graduates from the school. Yes it is a little more strict than other schools but it's for the best interest of your child. There is work that needs to be done to get a better flow but nothing can be perfect and this is the very first year this campus was open. My child has learned so very much that she wouldn't have learned at any other school. So proud to be part of the Idea family!!"
"I give it a 3 as there are still some things that can improve within this new school. While I love that the school now has it's own building and added a playground for the kids to play on instead of playing in the church parking lot as they did last year, there is still room for improvement. There needs to be an online web-portal for parents to see the progress of their children beside waiting to find out there is an issue during Progress or Report Card time. While Class Dojo is a great tool to keep in touch with the teachers, it would be nice to be able to have this parent portal to provide parents with a clearer picture on what their student is doing on a daily basis. I also do not like the homework packets sent home. They are just simple worksheets that do not challenge my child. I do not agree with sending homework without sending the proper books or associated handouts to assist with completing the homework. It's not acceptable as a parent to have the teacher tell you that the lesson was discussed in class and the child is to remember what they heard in class to complete homework. That's asking a lot for children who have some much going on. I also would like to see more STEM, Arts, and Music incorporated in the schools curriculum to help build up well rounded students. Lastly, I would like to see more field trips to local businesses or organizations to broaden the student's horizon."
