"This school has teachers and staff that really cares about the student wellbeing. My daughter is really happy. I love the diversity of students and teachers."
"This school is great! My daughter has been going to Memorial Elementary for three years now and is in 2nd grade. Her 1st and 2nd grade teachers rock. They were recruited by the new principal, Dr. Garcia. As a parent, I see many positive changes under the school's new leadership. Academic expectations are high. Student time with teachers is maximized: the school day has been extended by 20-30 minutes, and early dismissal days for teacher development are now in line with the HISD calendar. This year, a music teaches was recruited. Last year, a school-wide writing contest was held, and children went to a theatre performance. In the first few months of this school year, there have already been: an in-school theatre performance, a monster math night, and a multi-day science camp for 5th graders. The new principal ensured that the school garden was restored and an outdoor classroom was added there to allow students to learn more tangibly about nature."
"I have been teaching in Memorial for two years. It is one of the nicest HISD schools. Very familiar, friendly and very welcoming staff. Everything was perfect until Ms. Rozas (last principal) left the school and the new Principal came... The new principal, Dr. Garcia, has literally destroyed the school philosophy. 16 good teachers left the school last year because of her...Please don't bring your kids there...She doesn't have the necessary skills to manage a school properly. She doesn't care about neither kids nor teachers, she doesn't even like teaching. Very frustrating to see how a such wonderful school like Memorial, with history, with tradition is shutting down day by day because of a person without diligence. Ah, call her Doctor please..."
"I used to be a proud parent of Memorial Elementary, but until recent events that have occurred I am now highly disappointed in the lack of professionalism of the administration and the newly hired 5th grade teachers."
"My daughter went to Memorial Elementary school in first and second grades. The schools is very good, high standards of academics and teachers are very talented and hardworking. Mr. Foller for 1st grade, he is so energetic and one of the best teachers I ever came across. Same for Ms. Ebied in 3rd grade. My daughter loved this school a lot. This school certainly deserve a better rating than 6 of 10. My daughter got admission this year in TH Rogers, she is going to miss this school which sets her strong foundation. Thanks Memorial elementary staff to provide quality education."
