"A great school. Based on traditional values that develop the whole person Individual instruction including speaking music poetry art based on respect and responsibility We were in public school after returning from abroad in 2020 and this was head and shoulders above Condit or HISD daughter can’t wait to go to school in the morning and as parents the price is reasonable in exchange for the superior value All the graduates seem to do very well as they transfer to other schools in year 9. The values and habits appear to last a lifetime We are very proud to be MLI Parents and supporters"
"My child has been attending Montessori Learning Institute (MLI) since May 2021 when she was about 9 months old. She started in the nursery program with Ms Joan, then moved on to the toddler program - first with Ms. Michelle (1-2 y.o.) and now Ms Netasha (2-3 y.o.). She has been there for almost 2 years now. The educators at the school are dedicated to teaching and nurturing the children. If my child could articulate, she would attest to the positive learning environment. Instead, it is reflected in her social, emotional and cognitive growth. For this, we are grateful to the MLI educators, given that she spends most of her waking hours at the school, as we are working parents. Of all the positive attributes, we’re most impressed with her independence. Her “I can do it myself” attitude has been a great help at home (most of the time). In addition to educating our children, when asked, the teachers will offer helpful parenting advice. They have seen it all, so their advice is much appreciated. It is my understanding that the teachers there receive annual training (teacher in-service) and they know CPR and first aid for choking. Further, they are not without help. They have teaching assistants who help them with the students daily. Mrs. Brown, the administrator and teacher, is responsive to our needs and questions. She floats between the classes when and where needed and knows all of the students. Mrs. Vo, the principal, is Montessori educated. Her love and care for the students and school is evident when you meet her. She responds to our concerns when they arise. For example, we had concerns of the mosquitoes in the outside play area and it was promptly addressed. It is Houston, so mosquitoes are kind of hard to avoid. One issue that is not isolated to MLI is the dreaded daycare diseases. I will say that our child is actively building up her immune system here. Another thing to know is that MLI is closed for three weeks in August, which is inconvenient for us as we have to find alternative childcare. Overall, we are happy to have trusted MLI with our child’s education. We believe that MLI education will set a strong foundation for her future."
"My two year old son goes here and we were amazed by his growth this year. He went from speaking close to no English when he started, to singing over twenty songs less than a year later. He’s really blossomed in personality and grown in independence and confidence. We are very impressed by how the school teaches him good manners, because he frequently thanks us for helping him and greets adults. His teacher Ms Netasha has been so amazing and easy to communicate with, and the staff have been helpful as well! We’ve been here for a year and couldn’t be happier."
"I’m writing this review with mixed feelings. From an academic standpoint the school is very good. Teachers are very good and my family had experience with age group 3-5 (preK 3 and preK 4-5). Staff is generally kind, as long as you are completely cooperative. A parent cannot speak up against or question anything. We did encounter some behavior issues that took the school weeks to address and multiple meetings with the administrator as my child kept coming home crying he was being picked on. My family has supported the school throughout, and loved it. Then in fall 2021 The school took action removing my son after registration, involuntarily, due to the administrator (who is also the owner of the school) refusal to accommodate to my 5-year-old’s special needs. My child who was accommodated the previous year was told he may not return unless he follows new school regulations, where elsewhere considered illegal, regarding wearing masks when my child is medically exempt. The administrator waited until 3 days before the new school year started which left me without any other options but homeschool as registration closed everywhere else for the school year. These actions portraited the administration as unprofessional, careless to the consequences of their actions and cruel to a child that only wanted to come back to his friends and teacher. Then when I called the school to ask to collect my son’s items that were left for him to return, his teacher blocked my number and hung up the call in my face. I am questioning the administration’s ability to teach the Montessori values when they cannot follow them themselves. They surely are unable to teach by example. I would say, that if your child doesn’t require any accommodation, if you do not mind supporting a school that discriminates and refuses education to a young child that is medically unable to wear a face cover and are not worried about the values they teach by example; this would be a great choice."
"This is the only school that we have taken our daughter to and can’t imagine looking anywhere else. We found MLI as a recommendation from a friend and started in the nursery when she was 6 months old. Her growth and development has been amazing to see. With every classroom since the nursery her teachers have been accommodating and able to handle every child’s needs. She has made great friends with her classmates and continues to grown in leaps and bounds. We’re excited to have her baby brothers join her this year. We are so very grateful for the teachers and staff at MLI for creating such a wonderful space for our family."
