"Nice selection"
"I’m am extremely disappointed with the lack of quality, selection and maintenance in their garden center in particular within the indoor plant area. Costa Farms and Fisher Farms seems to be their contracted growers however, their buyer needs to incorporate more varieties into their selections beyond what anyone can get at a local grocery store. More importantly, the plant maintenance folks lacks knowledge of how to care for the small indoor plant area. Time and time again I give this big box store a chance and it disappoints me every time. This place is consistently infested with pests such as mealy bugs, spider mites, aphids, etc. virtually all foliage/plant killing pests (easily treatable). In addition, then you have the fungal issues on plants very contagious and left untreated. It amazes me that the products sold @ Home Depot is not being used to care for these plants. I have spoken to a Maintenance person for the indoor plants who maintains the South Elgin and Elgin Stores and she stated “oh I didn’t know”…when I showed pictures Of the very infested plants I observed that very day. One day I actually steered a very novice houseplant customer away from a Pothos infected with mealy bugs who was about to bring a hanging basket home. I just can’t let someone who’s starting out in the “Planty” world bring home a plant and spread the pests to her other plants. I showed her what to look for and how to treat however, as a customer I shouldn’t have to. Whether experienced or novice, customers should feel good about the quality of the plants. It’s bad enough with the overwatering of these plants and the Fungus knats they brew but the the fungal issues on leaves and pests are unacceptable. The other day Home Depot had a discount shelf (similar to Lowe’s) with infested plants without disclosure. I mean if your going to discount at least mention “treatment needed” or something. Please Home Depot up your game in the indoor houseplant area, hire folks that have knowledge of the plants they sell and employees that can help customers identify and maintain the health of these plant when asked. Without many specialty Plant Shops in the near area, your missing out on business. I no longer purchase my plants at HD. I would rather travel the distance to “Grow Geneva”, spend a little more but get better quality plants. Sure I still use Neem and isolate my plants for a bit but nothing like having to bring out the big dogs of treatment as I have with your plants. I have lost two Marble Queens purchased @ HD between South Elgin/Elgin store with no help from management for reimbursement or exchange. I didn’t have my magnifier app on my phone yet and brought home the infestation. Please HD do a better job and sales will increase."
"Had Excellent service from the young men in the garden department. Was there getting large bricks for a retaining wall and the two young men walked up, asked if I needed help and proceeded to load the flat cart and then put 150 heavy bricks into my truck. Thanks so much gentlemen. Home Depot was well staffed and I had a speedy checkout! Well done"
