"I've been going to Club Champion now for a few years after several bad 'in-store' fittings. For any serious golfer... you get what you pay for. And for someone new to the game a good fitting could be what keeps you playing and excited about your progress. The level of detail that Club Champion undertakes to get the right club, the right shaft, and the right specs in astounding. It still blows my mind how much data is captured. Both Jon and Chris at the Kingwood location have been great about everything I've brought them to help me figure out. This past weekend I went in with my fitter Chris to tackle new iron shafts and a driver setup. He happily let me try out every combo I was interested in and made recommendations on what he thought I needed and talked me through all the pros and cons. In the end Chris nailed it and helped me get 30 EXTRA YARDS out of my irons. And my dispersion on both irons and the driver were dramatically improved. So, if you're on the fence... dont' be. Take the time and schedule a fitting. It'll save you money in the end avoiding bad fittings elsewhere. Also, there isn't any strings attached. "I went into Club Champion in Kingwood today and was met at the desk by one of the reps. I explained that I will be buying a whole new set of clubs in the next couple of weeks and that I had narrowed down my choices between the Miura MB-101, Titleist T-110 / T-150 and the new Callaway Apex MB irons. They didn't have the Apex MB head in stock yet and I had already hit the Titleist irons early this week at a demo. As most are aware, these are all high-end sets and have already decided on the Callaways woods in the bag. I asked if I could hit 10 balls with the Miuras and the rep told me that I would have to set an appointment eventhough two out of the three bays were open just to see how they feel. I was informed that this was against their policy and that I would have to set up a fitting appointment if I wanted to hit the iron. The manager came up to the desk and told me that they were a fitting operation only and that if I wanted to hit the Miuras then I should go to PGA Superstore in a snide manner. Given their unwillingness to accommodate me, I will not be returning to this store. I was planning on getting a full-bag fitting and having them build everything for me. I understand that they don't want a bunch of folks coming into their facility and just trying out a bunch of clubs and then leaving. This was not my intention and they could tell through my interaction that this was not the case. So now, they will lose out on not only a full fitting (since the manager claimed this was the sole purpose of their operation) but they will also lose revenue on a full set of high-end clubs with a custom build. Club Champion should seriously consider how their management interacts with customers and their attitude towards their business model and accommodation. I will not ever give my business to them and my friends will all know about my experience as well."
