Whispering Oaks Apartments

"I have been living here for almost two years as of the writing of this review. I chose to move here for a few reasons. One of the main reasons is they promised carports to park the cars in, another is after looking at the area beforehand, it seemed to be quiet 24/7. No carports yet (I think that was a tease to get me to move in), the sprinklers water the vehicles in the parking lot more than the grass so I have to park in the outside parking spots next to the fence. Speaking of the grass, there is very little, just dirt and rocks where I live, where I had to buy my own turf and put it down. The weather outside invites itself in through the closed windows and doors. I have thermal curtains up along each window and tape around my front door to fix the drafts coming in. Other than that, it is a great place to live, and that is why the occupancy is full all the time. I am sure they have a waiting list. Neighbors tend to mind their own business, some even turn their noses up when you say hello when they are outside, so it is not really friendly here, but I personally do not care about that. Update: For some reason, today (8-23-23) I got an email stating that they want me to review them. So, I will update this one. The apartments have ONE amenity and that is the pool, which is closed 9 months out of the year. We have a new manager and I was going to give her the summer to make things better. But after the rent hike of over $200 a month on every resident, there are no improvements at all. There is no proper drainage when it rains so the sidewalks are like rivers running to the parking lot and bring mud with it, no grass in the main courtyard (when the yard guys ride around in their riding lawn mowers, all they do is kick up dirt, really there is no grass being mowed, maybe weeds), the sprinklers, when they work and not broken due to the yard guys, still spray the cars is the parking lot and the guys that blow the leaves blow them into my patio. The complex has had as many as 10 vacant apartments at one time due to the rent they want and the amenities they do not have and a few people have moved in, but there are still lots of empty apartments, something a couple years ago, they had a large waiting list. I still like living here, but when I am here, I tend to stay inside and mind my own business."

"Roaches is a big problem, the pool is never open and if it is, it’s dirty, the second floor units are very hot. The apts are not renovated or up to date for the price that they charge for rent"

"I've been living here for 2 years and love it! Neighbors are nice and easy going. Also, it's very quiet. My back patio view is scenic with trees. Work orders get done usually the same or next day. Daniela has been a wonderful property manager and overall have zero complaints. I'm happy to have found this gem complex after a couple of days studying the area hard. I'm very picky and drive around the area looking for red flags before finalizing any living location. I would recommend family, friends, coworkers or anyone else to look into Whispering Oaks. This is the sister property of Courts of Bedford apartments just fyi."

"I have lived here for 8 years and it has been a great experience until now. I see that there our complaints about the second floor being too hot and I agree. The temperature doesn’t get below 80 until early morning and continues rising all day. I have two dogs that have to endure the heat. All we get from the office is to get curtains, we’re in compliance and excuse, after excuse, after excuse. I even had one of their employees tell me that there is a leak in the Freon. But the office denies it and comes up with an excuse that the copper is dirty around the unit. Instead of at least having someone come out and look at the unit, they rather us move away. How is that gratitude for you"

"The apartment is very spacious. The privacy screens are nice. The maintenance person is good, but overworked. Those are the good parts. The windows are terrible, the cold weather invited itself in. Plastic on the window helped. The hot water was a joke. Had to run the water for 20 minutes to get it hot. The running of the water costs so that was not cost effective. No water heaters in the apartment, boiler system instead. The pool closes with no communication as why. Pool has hours, but are ignored. Residents can have two guests in the pool, also ignored. Plus those that party late don’t clean up after themselves. The property has places that can be hazardous with rain. Management has stated if they recognize the issue then they can be responsible. Ignore it and have someone get hurt. Based on that a paper was sent out be management for signatures that we would not sue the property. Manager has told us that she can change the rules when she wants, but we signed the lease, a legal document. The towing company will tow your car if you are over the white line even when it is covered by leaves. No parking blocks to reference the spot. This was brought to her attention during budget process and ignored. The reason I left was reported to corporate was a parking problem. The reason I left was the manager. You report a problem or concern and no action taken or recognized. A tree fell on a residents car and management told them they would have to take care of clearing their cars."
