"My experience with Bernadette Horton was not a good one at all. She was rude, dismissive and inappropriate. After several months of not finding relief from anxiety and depression, she ask ME what medication I should be on and also said “I don’t know what to do with you anymore”!!! Are you serious? A psychiatric professional should NEVER say something like that to a person who is struggling mentally! Do not waste your time. You deserve better!"

"Going here was the first time I saw a psychiatrist and put on medication for my mental health and they do not care. They are extremely hard to get a hold of and just want to put you on tons of medication. During the first visit, I felt very uncomfortable. As someone with severe anxiety, I felt like I couldn't speak without crying and I was constantly told to "use my words like an adult". I spoke about my issues with food and a potential eating disorder to which she told me I "looked healthy, so its fine", and she ended up commenting on my weight almost every visit following. The worst part of all was when I was put on a benzo for my panic attacks which ended up increasing my suicidal thoughts and I was extremely depressed. My mom tried to get a hold of the doctor and we only got the receptionist, who told us it was my fault I was feeling that way so there was nothing they could do about it. When we finally got ahold of Horton, it was over a week later and she kept trying to put me on a medication I had tried before and didn't do well. She then responded she didn't even have my chart open, so she was trying to prescribe me medication without looking at any of my previous history!"

"I have been seeing Bernadette since November 2022 for medication management. I have found her and her support staff to be compassionate, knowledgeable, kind, and engaged. It can be difficult to find a mental health care provider you are comfortable with and trust. Bernadette is that provider for me."

"after my mother and I lost our psychiatrist unexpectedly we were looking for somebody else to provide our mental health care needs. The building was beautiful and the staff of very nice however our experience with the nurse practitioner was anything but. Mental health is an often invisible illness and separate types of care and medication work differently for everyone. What works for one person might not work for another and that understanding is needed. During my first visit, I explained my woes and troubles were and was told "we dont want you to think about that". I have not stopped thinking about that inconsiderate and ignorant remark. Basically diminishing my anxiety and depression to simple sadness and then saying don't be sad. That is the most unprofessional and inconsiderate remark I've ever heard to somebody who's experiencing depression or suicidal ideation, which I already told them I had. I left the meeting having satisfied to find someone to supply my antidepressants due to a loss of a previous psychiatrist. Expectations of care to receive medications that are needed is standard, however my hopes for further understanding each other diminished when my mother finished her appointment. my mother on the other hand who has been experiencing medical withdrawals due to losing our provider. She has her mental health battles and takes medication to help her, and further meds to counteract the side effects. She was told she was taking too many. In the first meeting before even understanding her current situation or what all of those medications would do for her. we were hoping for a local and refreshing experience but we found more of a inconsiderate broken healthcare system We left satisfied having received what we needed but our view in care is different"

"I have read over the review and this is in no way my experience. I suffer from bio polar anxiety agoraphobia a few others also . I'm very open about my condition and hate taking meds that make me feel fake and out of touch. I'm a very vocal person and even let them know I enjoy cussing before my meeting. This was not an issue since I felt even though the are religious they understand everyone expresses differently. I have been going the them 9+ months. I feel that the front desk person has always been helpful and when I need her to verify my insurance she was busy but I had her call me back about the info. The nurse practitioner is laid back not just a let's pick your brain... That's not her job her job is to get you to answer the question and get you the medicine you need. If your needing a person to talk to that not their focus. I have been to several and only old school one talk a bit. You have to see a therapist they are the ones that get paid to pick your brain. This is a misconception most people have on when starting or going to psychiatrist / nurse practitioners. I have recommended and even have family that sees them. Mental health is a stigma do not let your diagnose define who you are.... They are only words. I hope if you don't come here you find peace in your next place. #breakthestigma"
