"One day, our seven-pound five-year-old dog had problems walking. His back had an arch shape. He couldn’t jump or run. The vet took an X-ray of his spine. There were two crushed discs. Unusual for a young dog. The vet prescribed Rimadyl to manage inflammation. A physical therapist suggested chiropractic treatment. I know massage therapy worked for someone injured in martial arts. "Back in Motion Veterinary Services" offers similar treatment. On our first visit, it was in Midlothian. Today, it is closer to Mansfield. It relocated to Venus. Dr. Torres treats farm animals and performance animals. A lot of horses and dogs. Dr. Torres noted our dog’s spine muscle was stiff. We told her the goal was to reduce his dependence on Rimadyl. She massaged the dog’s back. Then some realignment of the spine. Following was some acupuncture. The final procedure is heat treatment with a laser. We also had to do daily alignment exercises for the dog at home. We repeated the visits for the first three weeks. If the dog responds well, we reduce the treatment to laser only once a month. After two months, our dog is normal. He is sprinting and using his back legs like before. No need for drugs to fight inflammation. Those drugs can have adverse reactions. My wife and I (and the dog) love the results of the treatment. I don’t have any photos to post. But you might see our Japanese Chin on their Facebook page."
