"Placed here by my insurance after a house fire. Front desk gentlemen are courteous but housekeeping team is terrible. The washers in laundryroom smell and stink up the 2nd floor. They do not fix the beds properly and claim that "items left on the floor" prevent them from doing proper housekeeping. Roaches on the floor should be more concerning to them than the guests items. Breakfast choices are not great either. I do not recommend nor will I stay here longer than I have to."
"I am a travel nurse staying here for work. Very very nice place. Staff is attentive and very helpful. I don't doubt I will enjoy my stay. I highly recommend."
"Unfortunately this is the "cleanest" of hotels in this area. Travel 75%+ of year for work and by far the most miserable stay I've had anywhere. If you enjoy hearing every footstep the person above you makes, or every groan/snore/conversation your neighbors make then by all means this hotel is what you want. I have been a gold elite member with Marriott for many years and was disappointed in this stay. As far as the cleanliness, like I said it's the cleanest in the area but I still felt the need to go buy cleaning supplies and disinfecting spray and clean the room myself before I was even semi comfortable sleeping here. Also, there's some Latino club right nextdoor and the highway noise and sirens (close proximity to multiple hospitals) makes it almost impossible to get a peaceful hour or two. If I were here for a shorter time I would have just slept in the rental car. I used my points for this stay because my employer wouldn't pay for the $200/night plus stay and wanted me to stay somewhere even more disgusting. If you're looking to visit the area for leisure I highly recommend just staying home. If you are unfortunately here for work like I was then... good luck. Oh I almost forgot to mention after my first night I had left to go assist a customer for the day and came back and my daily medication tray for that day of the week was stolen out of the room and my things gone through. After that I brought my things with me everyday out of precaution. I did not report this to hotel or management because of the state I am in and my skin color. I also didn't want who did it to come back to my room while still here and retaliate. On a brighter note they had above average toilet paper for a hotel, that's all that I have to say that's positive."
"The rooms and hallways are beat up, often with trash left laying around. Hot and humid as well. The rooms may have looked renovated years ago, but now are worn and tired. Beds are old as well. Low water pressure. Pool was green when I stayed. McAllen has zero decent hotels. This is clearly not a place I'd recommend anyone waste their money on."
"I have always traveled to the area for business, since 2016 to be exact. I dont always stay here at the Residence but when I do it's for the most part enjoyable. One of the best run hotels I have EVER stayed in. The front desk staff is very professional superb service every time. There is one older man in the morning who is not so pleasant, he's actually quite rude. The breakfast attendant is also rude as well so I just make breakfast in my room because she always has an attitude problem. The housekeepers are very kind, I prefer to not have my room serviced because I keep clean on my own but they provide me with things I need. I would give it 5 stars except for those 2 people I mentioned. I also won't forget to mention Diana the director of sales. She is a very kind woman that really goes above and beyond, she's a very genuine person who really takes pride in helping others. I normally don't make any reviews but the staff here for the most part made me feel special."
