"Please do not ever make the mistake of bringing your child here. We brought our 1 month old here last night after having the terrible experience of falling down our wooden steps while I was holding here. She hit her head hard on the fall so we immediately rushed her to the Texas Children’s ER. We arrived around 6:30pm and they did a CT scan on her relatively quickly. By that time there was already a large bump on her head and bruising that had formed. They sent us back to the waiting area and we waited there until 2:30am (8 HOURS!) before finally being called back. They then brought us into a room, took her vitals, and told us a doctor would be in shortly to see us. It was 5:30am (ANOTHER 3 HOURS, AND 11 HOURS SINCE WE ARRIVED) before a doctor finally came in to see our daughter and give us the results of the CT scan. (Side note: the nurses told us we couldn’t feed her until we saw a doctor. The idea that a 1 month old can go 11 hours between feedings is beyond comical). This was absolutely the most surreal, negative experience I’ve ever had at any medical facility. A long wait is one thing. 11 hours is something entirely different. And this was for a 1 month old with potentially significant head trauma. It’s hard to think of many cases that deserve more urgent treatment and attention than this. When the doctor finally came in, she told me that an 11 hour wait was unacceptable. That’s not nearly a strong enough characterization of our experience. I’m embarrassed for Texas Children’s, and they should be ashamed to treat patients in this manner. I don’t care what your injury is. No person, no child, and especially no 1 month old should be subjected to an 11 hour wait to see a doctor at an emergency room. By definition, this facility should not even be called an emergency room. God forbid a child should die while waiting to see an ER doctor for 11 hours, but it’s a matter of time before that happens at this hospital if it hasn’t already. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about my innocent 1 year old daughter, and children like her with potentially life threatening injuries, being in such a helpless situation as we were in last night at this joke of a hospital."
"My son was seen by ER staff promptly, treated courteously, and received great overall care. Our emergency room nurse and physician were amazing, helping my son feel calm in a scary situation. No one likes to be in an emergency room ever, especially not for one's child, but everyone we encountered at the ER (from check-in and beyond) was phenomenal. Same great care was received upon being admitted. Both night and day medical teams provided remarkable care."
"My three year old was having sudden difficulty breathing after contacting a upper respiratory virus, and we rushed to the closest children emergency room/hospital, although when we called preemptively, the wait time was over one hour, once we came and he was assessed, because he was having higher respiratory rate and visibly struggling breathing/talking we were immediately taken to triage room and then to the one of the ED rooms with respiratory therapist and further care. I am extremely grateful, everyone was very pleasant, helpful and the overall experience was very positive. I am a physician, so I spent time in many hospitals and emergency rooms and can attest that our experience at this hospital brunch was very good!"
"I can only feel gratitude for this Hospital. They provided us with great service in the emergency room. The whole team is great, admissions staff, nurses, medical assistants and doctors. They are wonderful, they all do an extraordinary job with the children. This wonderful hospital cares for so many children every day and gives hope to their families in the midst of difficult times. We are truly blessed to have a great hospital in Houston like Texas Children."
"Came here for an ultrasound for our son. Way better experience here than the one in downtown Houston! Free parking too, which is a super plus compared to the paid parking in the downtown Houston location! Wait times for appointment is a bit long, even though there’s a sign saying if you’ve waiting over 15 minutes, to let a staff know, we end up still having to wait longer. The process was pretty seamless to say the least, but overall experience was not too shabby. Nothing to write home about and there’s room for improvement but it was good!"
