"The park is beautiful to go for walks, runs, or biking. The off-road trails used to be great, too. However, due to lots of kids and adults using ATVs after it has rained, it has caused these trails to be unaccessible. Plus they have leave the paved road very muddy. They need to enforce the No ATVs/motorcycle that they have. Plus, they really should have better restrooms instead of portal pottys."
"Peaceful trails, paved and unpaved! Multiple bodies of water with beautiful treeline surrounding them. Vast valleys of serene tranquility. No hydration stations so bring plenty of water especially in the summer whereas during winter it’s cold. While hiking this park I came across a herd of wild goats, this was on an unpaved path. Very neat discovery. There is a creek as well that may be good for fishing. There was a playground area for kids near the parking area as well. Highly recommend for some simple natural decompressing time."
"The park is characterized by its expansive layout, providing a generous amount of space that caters to the needs of runners, walkers, and hikers alike. Its beauty is further accentuated by the serene lakes and surrounding natural landscapes, making it an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts seeking tranquility and scenic views. However, it is essential to exercise caution and be aware of certain safety considerations, particularly during the late evenings and nights. Recent incidents of crime, including a tragic death, have been reported during those hours, prompting local authorities to advise visitors to avoid the park during this time. It is crucial to stay informed about these developments through news sources and take appropriate measures to ensure personal safety. Conversely, during the mornings and daytime, the park is widely regarded as a secure environment suitable for people of all ages. Families can be seen enjoying their time together, engaging in various recreational activities and appreciating the natural surroundings. The park serves as a vibrant hub for community gatherings, picnics, and social interactions, fostering a sense of unity and shared enjoyment. In light of the contrasting conditions, it is recommended to plan your visits to the park accordingly. Taking advantage of the park's safety during the mornings and daytime allows for a delightful experience, where you can relish the sights, engage in physical activities, and create cherished memories with your loved ones. However, it is prudent to respect the cautionary advice regarding late evening and nighttime visits, ensuring that you prioritize personal safety and make alternative plans during those hours. By being mindful of these factors, visitors can strike a balance between enjoying the park's scenic beauty and recreational opportunities while staying informed and taking necessary precautions to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for themselves and their companions."
"Big park in the center of a strong Hispanic community. Paved walking trail and trash cans are available. A memory of how Houston used to be Street to the park needs work done. Family friendly with plenty of parking. Don't leave valuables in car. Cars are broken into. Plenty of parking."
"Came here because it seemed like a nice park with a lake. I don't know if it's natural or unkempt but there was lots of retained water everywhere. Glad the trail is paved and dry so we could walk; it was a little like walking through swamp though (because of retained water along side). It took about 1.5 miles to get to the lake which didn't look that great. Also, I wish there were regular restroom instead of porta potties."
