Plato's Closet- Cypress, TX

"Don’t get me wrong Plato’s closet employees are nice but they only take white girl clothes. I walked around the whole story and saw no diversity. Most of my clothes were almost brand new and never worn and they told me it was worn down. Don’t sell ur clothes if your a woman of color"

"I bought a pair of pants from them and missed the return window of 7 days. I decided to take those pants and others to sell, and now they won't buy them back. Saying the items I have are old, I don't get the stores process compared to others. A few weeks back my boy friend tried to sell clothes here as well and due to our bags they didn't even look at the items. Wasn't a trash bag we brought in reusable bags. EDIT: Like I stated above, it was past the 7-day window to return the pants. I chose to just bring them in to sell to get some kind of money back and was told they were too old. Also, as stated above, the bags we used were from a different store and reusable. When I walked away, the girl said, "Oh wow, how bold.""

"Unfortunately not the most polite staff for someone’s first time ever being at a Plato’s. Would have been nice to have kindly been told how the operation works instead of feeling like I violated the store because I walked in with a Contractor bag with clean neatly folded jeans within. No trying to find a solution for the customer, just “you have to bring the clothes in the store in something recyclable”, my bad I don’t keep recyclable boxes in the car. Seemed like the majority of the staff (at least the two I interacted with) was a bit overwhelmed for it to only be 6 customers in the store, or maybe it was just me."

"Love this store! The owners are great. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. The clothes are chosen well. I look forward to visiting often because their inventory is always changing. I got a fabulous lulu jacket for a steal. Also- want to note- Even though they are a well known company, they are a franchise which means you truly are supporting a locally owned, family run company."

"Unfortunately, I was not met with the same kindness of these beautiful white reviewers. I called earlier to get directions for selling clothes, as I have never heard of Plato’s Closet before. The young lady who answered the phone was kind and professional. When I arrived, the older white male and female owners (I presume) were not kind, friendly or professional. The female gave me “the look” the look “why are you here, I wish you weren’t” look. Unfortunately, I have grown all too familiar with that “look”living in my beautiful black skin for over 40 years. The white lady who came in to buy was greeted with smiles and warm salutations. They called me least than an hour later to say they were ready for me. I get there and as I expected they didn’t want any of our clothes. They said mine were too mature. The box was exactly the way I dropped it off. My daughter’s clothes was at the bottom and were never touched. I hope they get better by the time they open. There are so many black, affluent women in Cypress, who will probably try this place out. Do better!"
