"I called the dealership in advance to ask if they still had a specific car that I was ready to buy and if i could send someone to inspect it, after which I would purchase immediately as long as it passed. The salesman said yes. I scheduled someone to inspect it, then called this dealership back to let them know that someone was coming and that afterward I would buy it. The salesman said the car was still available and was aware that someone was on the way. But then the inspector called me once he got to the dealership and said that someone else was trying to buy and that he could only look at it if the other person decided not to buy. They ended up purchasing, so I spent a lot of money on sending an inspector for nothing. I'm not sure how I would be able to have someone inspect a car to make sure it's sound if calling the dealership ahead of time is completely unhelpful. Just don't expect accomodation from the salesperson."
