"DO NOT BOOK HERE!!! LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS!! Story time… 0 Stars So yesterday Feb 10, 2024 my children and I were in Ysiplanti Michigan for the AAU track and field indoor championships. We booked this hotel because i intended on using my points and this hotel had a room to accommodate us. So the track meet ran super long so I checked in on my mobile, and requested a mobile key and inputed my arrival time of about 8pm. The mobile key was never assigned to me. We arrive to the hotel it’s about 7:58pm. Upon arrival we encounter the front desk clerk, who did not welcome us or greet us. I say hello and inform the clerk of our reservation and that I had requested a mobile key but that it was never assigned and we wanted to check in. Condescendingly she informs me that since I used my points mobile key access was unavailable, and just stares at me. I’m like ok well I’d like to check in. So we go through the process of checking me in; asking for my name, ID, and credit card. I provide her with the information and I also ask what the credit card was for since I was using points. She stated for incidental charges, which I already knew, and then I proceed to ask how much they were. Then once again condescendingly she says she’ll let me know when she done checking me in. 5 minutes pass she looks up from her computer hands me back my cards and states my incidental charge would be $300. I’m pissed. Now I book with Fairfield/Marriott a lot. That’s why I have enough points to book rooms. On every occasion the incidental charge has been nothing more than $20,$30, maybe $50. I explain this to the clerk. She says it’s what the computer generated. I explain the room is only $145 to book how is it a $300 incidental charge? She Karenly states do you want the room or not or do you want me to cancel it? I’m pissed. I asked for her name which she states is “Carolyn.” I stepped away from the counter and she proceeds to help the two “Karens” standing behind me. At this point I’m feeling some type of way like I was being racially discriminated against and I lost it.. There was no customer service. No hospitality. Just cold and cruel from this lady. I hate the way I acted afterwards. I lost it. I called her every name I could think off. It turned ugly and she called the police on me. All this is happening and my teenage daughter is recording… We left before the police came. I left that hotel with no intentions of ever going back. Some of my other teammates were staying at Townplaces Suites Detroit Belleville. I was in tears because money was funny and I was just embarrassed and discriminated against in front of my children. My friends had me come in and talk to their Front desk clerk SJ (who was so nice and understanding) SJ gave me a number to call. I called customer support and spoke with Tom and he filed my complaint. He also refunded my points. SJ assisted me with using my points and booking my hotel with him.. DO NOT BOOK with Fairfield INN Suites Detroit Canton. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Front Desk Carolyn should be fired! She was horrible, and I know a racist. Sorry so long. Have a great day."
"I will NEVER make a reservation at a Marriott property again. During the recent snow storm (Jan 13) and power outages I was looking for a hotel close to home for my 93 year old mother. She had no power and no heat for over 24 hours. When making the reservation for her by flashlight, I accidentally clicked to reserve at a location that was too far from her home. Because I was making a same day reservation, this hotel REFUSED to cancel my reservation. I spoke to Marriott corporate who said they would investigate the charges and rebooked a room for me at a closer property. Two days later I was billed for BOTH hotel rooms. I disputed the charges through my credit card company. Marriott corporation insists I used the room. I’m not sure how I could be in two rooms in two very different locations at the same time, but the cheap folks at Marriott have it all figured out. Don’t ever make a mistake when booking with this company. Book at your own risk. In response to the owner- Having been employed by the airline industry for 20+ years, they are much more flexible than your hotel was, unless you fly basic. They at least offer a voucher to rebook. They don’t double charge."
"Location is great. Next to a lot of things. Service, it depends who you get. We checked in the evening of 1/26. The lady who was working was awful. To the point where I never seen someone so annoyed to be doing the job she was doing. Wasn't wearing a name tag so idk the name. The other 2 nights, the guys that were at the desk were real nice though. The rooms. They were clean. They are small though. But I can't fault the hotel for thar. But if you do go here and have a big family or like space. Just know, it's limited."
"Very disappointed. They don’t clean or refresh the room unless you’re staying for 5 days? No lotion or basic amenities. All of this luxury for $180 a night. Marriott needs some quality control."
"Check in - quick, however elite status not acknowledged. Stay - terrible experience. Had to put in a work order for shower drain, in spite of having and DND tag on the door (I was interviewing on zoom), the plumber/whoever it was - came right in, never knocked, wanted to talk to me while I’m interviewing, went into the bathroom, worked on the drain with a drill and some other heavy equipment, didn’t even bother to close the bathroom door. I couldn’t interrupt my interview ut it’s timed. After I finished my interview - I reported this to front desk who seemed to be very casual about it. Wow. House keeping - terrible once again. I understand there’s a language barrier, I requested for the sheets to be changed and they didn’t even touch them. Again, I reached out to front desk and I was told they don’t change the sheets, will only clear trash, change towels and ‘May’ clean the bathroom? Apparently that’s what you get for a 3 night stay. Wow once again. Verdict : never (obviously) staying with them. May consider town place suites next door but I’ve seen the same house keeping staff walk between the two properties. So May be not a great idea either. P.s I gave a ‘zero’ for service and that’s why you can’t see my service rating."
