"Fabulous adaptive reuse property!"
"This place has ups and downs. But mostly downs. You definitely get a very nice sized apartment for the price. Gorgeous rooms, high ceilings etc. but that’s about all you get here. My roommate and I struggle to get into the building 90% of the time. We spend over an hour everyday just simply trying to get into the garage or for the key fob to register so the side door will open. Hopefully you don’t mind parking on the street even though you’re paying $120 for a parking spot. Cause that’s what will happen. There’s a laundry room. If you’re able to get in, (which will take you about 30 minutes) has very outdated washers/dryers that work 25% of the time. Getting ahold of maintenance, unless they want to charge you for something Is like pulling teeth. Our first apartment completely flooded and they moved us into a much dirtier, smaller apartment that they claimed was bigger! Just extremely shady. The owner isn’t around much but when he is, he’s cool. There’s just no way to contact him. My bathroom flooded and they brought me a bucket. That’s it. A bucket. It’s like a bad comedy movie living in this apartment, but you’ll have a nice view to watch from. All in all I’d say unless you’re on the 5th floor, it’s not worth moving in to this building. Your unnecessary stresses will increase exponentially trying to do basic tasks like getting into the building/doing laundry/ etc. If you’re a busy person definitely do NOT move in here. Cause a few hours of your day will be taken up just trying to get in and out."
"historic property, walker and weeks were famed cleveland architects. don’t know much about the apartments though."
"There's a lot to say about Walker & Weeks. I signed a 12 month lease, moved out in July 2021. Here's the good and bad. GOOD: Huge apartments for the price, especially if you don't live alone. My 3 bed, 2 bath that I shared with 2 other girls was $1995 a month. Very convenient for CSU students (close to campus and close enough to downtown). You can still get the downtown/campus living feel while paying a little less than other places. If you have roommates, the units are big enough that you feel like you have your own space. The views on the west side are pretty awesome, especially if you have a unit with a balcony. Big beautiful windows let a lot of light in. The garage is heated and very convenient during the cold months ($120 extra a month, added to rent - also, only your car can use the spot). Mostly everything worked just fine. I would say 80% of the time when something broke, maintenance came to check it out quickly. Full size bed, dresser, and desk were included, as well as all utilities except electric. The building itself is really cool and historical, but it could definitely use an update. Honestly, the greatest thing about the whole place is how spacious the apartments are - it really does make it worth it. Now, BAD: First off, if you plan on running your A/C a lot, be prepared for a LARGE electric bill, this is especially important in the hot months. CPP is the provider and lets be honest, they're the worst. Our bill in the summer was between $150-$250 a month. The huge windows are beautiful, but they will make your unit warmer than you think. Lots of small issues (old building) but most can be fixed or at least put up with. The elevator is extremely slow, so be ready to take the stairs or wait quite some time. If you are looking for an apartment where you will always have peace and quiet, this is not it. Lots of young people, especially CSU students, so be prepared for noise especially on weekends (most times it's bearable, but I lived there during "covid" times). The windows are not very good at blocking sound, so if you have a bedroom next to the highway be prepared to deal with traffic/outside noise at all hours. It's also not in the nicest area, but as long as you avoid the Carnegie side it's fine. Security is not always the greatest. Once, the building doors were unlocked for almost 2 weeks because there was a problem with the key fob sensor. There were also instances where people would have guests over and they would park in paid-for spots. If you have to call the office for what ever reason, good luck getting in touch with anyone! It would sometimes take multiple calls, voicemails, and emails to get someone to finally respond to an issue. Organization seems to be something the company really struggles with. The leasing agent is nice, but also not the most helpful. Lots of information was left out when my roommates and I were signing. Had to run all over town to do last minute things the day of getting the keys that the leasing agent forgot to inform us about. There's a lot of updating that needs to be done. This could be a really amazing spot if everything was easier to access online, and if the building itself had some work put into it."
"I only gave this place an extra star because I think the buildings physical structure has some potential if competent owners were to take over. TENANT TYPE: • College students RENT (to save you some time): • Quotes are based off word of mouth conversations with other tenants, as well as my rent • 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom: ~$1300-1600/month • 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom: ~$N/a - 2800/month • Ballroom sized rooms: ~$N/a • Garage parking: $120/month (added to total rent) • Full size bed and dresser for each room (not furnished otherwise) • No random roommate system • Rent is not accepted in cash • No online payment system (mailed or dropped off) PROS: • Apartments are spacious (high ceilings) and slightly modern • Close to CSU campus and downtown • Overnight security guard • Property manager is nice CONS: • Paying top dollar for a place that’ll only contact you back if they are charging you for something and building is constantly falling apart. • Maintenance requests commonly take a couple days to complete. Including no hot water or A/C requests (good times). • Inefficient large windows which they claim are efficient (most enjoyable in the winter). • Company who owns building refuses to run things electronically (I.e. sending statements, maintence notices) — Little to no organizational skills • Fire alarm commonly gets pulled. If your drunk buddy does it you get charged $500 • Dangerous area at night (People occasionally get mugged on the Carnegie Ave. side of building after hours. Usually after that late night Rally’s run). ~A Walker classic~ Update your website. The future is now."
