"We stayed here over New Years, Saturday to Monday. There was no working hot water! When I asked the staff they just smiled and nodded at me. They didn’t even care! Doors had holes in them and didn’t close properly, floors were very dirty, our feet were black after walking barefoot in the room. I’ll never stay here again, and unless it’s a last resort option I’d advise avoiding this location."
"Okay, let's talk about this place. This is a no frills 2 star motel. That's all. They have beds, not too bad. They have a TV, small. Great shower. Not a lot of parking. The staff are nice. Ice machine works. Great wifi. Microwave and fridge. The pros. Location! It's across from the big cross. 15 minute walk to the historic streets, less to the gate. The price is right. I would stay here again."
"The bedding is old and stained, the bathroom windows don't have locks on them. But it very close to old town, so a good location."
"I know the place changed owners and they are working on renovations, not sure which location is the new name. Booked through a 3rd party app under the Castillo Inn but my CC was ran under the Scottish Inn. Either way, this place was terrible. The room reeded like an ashtray and I immediately went to the office and complained. I guess they all smell like and all the renovations and layers of paint won't cover up the smell. The only reason I didn't cancel and walk out right then was because of how I booked and I was not able to cancel or alter the reservation. They put me in a room down by the road and, although I was assured it would be quiet, I could hear everyone walking down the street, even a few rooms in. The blinds didn't close all the way and was a huge privacy concern. The woman at the front desk came in and yanked on the bottom of them (there was no cord) and was able to adjust them enough to cover the crack in the window. The bathroom window also didn't lock and could be pushed open with a little effort. Overall just didn't feel safe or comfortable in the room. On the upside, the bed was fairly comfortable, and the location was walking distance to everything downtown. Still, will not be back."
"(This review is also under Castillo Inn, since that's what this motel recently changed its name to. I'm posting it under both for transparency in case people don't look at the new one.) We paid for a room we left after a couple hours. Here's why... There is a ton of renovation going on, which makes the price seem somewhat appealing, but I do not recommend staying here unless you can handle cigarette smoke saturating your things, and thin walls making every noise easy to hear. The best thing I have to say about this motel is that the parking is free, the mini fridge was clean and possibly new, and the new floors are nice. The list of cons: The room smelled terrible (like an ash tray or old bowling alley), even for being partially renovated. I didn't expect to be put in an unfinished room, which seems unprofessional since we were charged the same as what I assume were finished rooms. Our door was stripped down and didn't even have a number on it, making it awkward to guess which room was ours since rooms to either side were in the same boat. The door stuck, making it very hard to open and close. The smoke alarm was dangling off the wall (see pictures). There was no mirror put up in the bathroom, and nowhere to hang a hand towel. The small table is so close to the bed that it caused a very painful collision when getting up. The lamp shade by the bed was pretty beaten up, and while minor, it still looked pretty bad. There are no blackout or privacy curtains, only blinds which standing in the right place you can still see through. The worst part was noting a disgusting stain... or possibly worse, unwashed spot... on the side of the bed (see pictures). At night when looking for your hotel, look for the sign that says Scottish Inn. You can't see the "Castillo" brand when it's lit up since it was just laid over the old sign. Tl;dr: Can't recommend."
